The Strand is historic and the renovation is beautiful, but the menu is expensive. You are paying for the safety of the food and western-style service, which is valuable in Yangon.

The hotel looks much better inside than outside. Beautifully restored, the lobby exudes class. We had a simple lunch at the cafe and the quality was excellent. The lobster pie was fresh and came with an intense lobster bisque like sauce. We also had a drink at the bar that was also classy. There is a pool table but the... More

This delightful early 1900 hotel has been wonderfully restored and is a magnificent venue for this dining experience. The staff are friendly and helpful and welcoming. The idea of a slightly different high tea was a good one. 2 of our party of 4 decided on the Myanmar High Tea menu, little steamers filled with savoury alternatives to the standard,... More

I'd visited The Strand on a Saturday afternoon for their famous high tea. The hotel was smaller than I had expected but it was cosy, had the feel of the living room of a mansion house, warm and inviting. I'd ordered a western high tea set. Staff are friendly and not obtrusive. It is a perfect place to rest your... More

When it is hot outside and the tiredness from sightseeing is a bit overwhelming, we went to the Strand for a drink and a snack. Lovely and elegant hotel and very tasty food. Wish we could have stayed overnight!

We have had high tea at the Peninsula HK and at the Eastern & Oriental Penang and so far The Strand's was the best. The scones were warm and buttery and really delicious. The pastries and sandwhiches were very very tasty and the entire set was filling. I especially loved the prawn sandwhich, the Opera cake, and the chioux. At... More

We just stop by to see the historic hotel, the location close to the harbour is far for being the best but the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and we ended up drinking gin tonics and a delicious pizza snacks.

We booked in for afternoon tea at The Strand on the last day of our trip to Myanmar and we we're not disappointed. The hotel has recently been renovated and has a very colonial feel to it and the service there was exceptional. We ordered a Classic High Tea and a more traditional Myanmar High Tea and shared them between... More
