Very disappointed with the unfriendly service at this restaurant. All staff were very rude and uninterested in making our experience a good one. We were walked through a Smokey area to be taken to the non smoking section of the restaurant and then just left...to wonder around wondering what happens next. A cat wondered around our feet while we ate a small entree that we ordered just to be polite. I would avoid if looking for a cheerful smile or a hello with your meal.More
My partner and I went here after reading the reviews and were appalled. Local girl that greeted us was rude and disinterested and took us out the back to non smoking area and left us to wonder where to sit as other local girls working...there stared blankly.
We decided on a drink in front bar to decide if we were going to eat. Ordered a few drinks and a garlic bread which took forever and after more poor service and then laughing at us decided we weren’t going to eat there. A random cat was roaming around our feet and the place appears run down.
For the price would of expected some basic customer service or a smile. Thankfully other restaurants nearby were outstandingMore
We ordered pizza and calzone. Food was really good.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
The only thing they could invest a little bit would be decoration and furniture.
Tables and chairs specially inside are very outdated.
It always concerns me when attending a french restaurant which serves chilled red wine in glasses that could double up as eye baths!
The menu read very well , but that was an end to it
The service was fine if a little over attentive...The meal was very average: the price was higher than average
The decor, painted by a local artist providing many points for discussionMore
We visited L’Houstalet with friends who had been here before, It’s a lovely quirky place and the owner is clearly very passionate about it. The décor is distinctively unique but L’Houstalet is clearly popular and has been open for many many years. We had an...enjoyable evening with good food, nice wine and great companyMore
We ate in a number of different places while in Vila and the general norm is that none of them are cheap just like anywhere in the South Pacific islands. Considering that, I found l'Houstalet to offer the best bang for our bucks. They make...sure kids are happy with various pizzas on the menu while adults can venture into more hazardous choices such as the fruit bat stew, which I had. Tasted a bit like what pulled rabbit could taste like. And the French wine was surprisingly quite affordable which sure helped washed down the bat stew. The owner keeps a close eye on proceedings, going from one table to the other throughout the evening to ensure guests are happy. Definitely worth a visit.More
Called in without a booking and easily got seated in this large restaurant with separate dining areas for non smokers.
I had a nice vegetarian pizza and they kindly gave me a takeaway tub for the third I couldn’t manage.
Interesting artwork around the walls.
