I loved this place. So casual and fun. Located in a hut on Avatele Beach. Only open on Sundays. The Island is very religious so there are no restaurants open except for the Washaway, other than the Matavai Resort. Best Burgers hands down. The host is Willy and he's great to talk to about the culture of the Island and... More

Short menu, a plus, but burgers and pizza are the mainstay. Fish or beef burgers, also a hawaiian and a host of very cold beers. In an ice filled chilly, heavy chain on the lid to keep it safe during the week as this place is only open on Sundays. Sunday observance is overlooked at this place on the harbour.... More

I had the best ever, generous serving of tuna steak here. Four decent sized pieces of perfectly cooked fish, chips, salad and home made mayonnaise. Delicious. Very reasonably priced drinks (self service). Well worth visiting on Sunday when it is open.

Only open on Sunday's it is definitely one of those restaurants to visit while you are on Niue because it is unique in the fact it is quit different!

What a great place! Right on the beach at Avatele. Write your order and drinks in a book pay at the end. Delish burgers and fish meals. Only open sundays. Swimming at Avatele great too. Boat ramp. When calm can swim thru gap to outside reef and up to right is awesome fish and coral. Oir suggestion..Do it in low... More

This little place has an awesome view in Avatele close to the boat landing. We had the best Burgers ever on Sunday, very friendly service as well. Just a real pity they are not open during the week - sure would have seen us very often.

Somethings are an institution! The Washaway is just that on Niue, a Sunday ritual that is a must for all visitors to Niue. To spend a relaxed Sunday touring the sights of Niue and ending the day with a late lunch chatting with friends while admiring the View. Not much in this world can come close!

Had the pleasure of a short stay here last Sunday night, what a great place for dinner and drinks, fabulous sunset followed by cold beer and tasty burgers. The setting is great with the locals using this café in numbers. Always a good sign. Highly recommended if you are in this part of the world.

Washaway cafe only runs on Sundays but is well worth the visit. We were made to feel welcome, the fish burger and fish meal, Wahoo were spot on. Cheap beer and stunning spot to spend some time. Like a pop up cafe!
