The tour guide said this was the best after we asked for a saltena. A family of picky eaters loved them, though they were hot.

I love these saltenas and as a volunteer living in La Paz, they are a regular breakfast or lunch staple around the office. I highly recommend their vegetarian saltenas (the only place I have found with vegetarian saltenas in La Paz) and also their "hoja" saltenas, which are meat and potato filled but with a flakey pastry crust (sometimes only... Tried both the meat and veggie and I would easy get these again. If fact I was craving them the day after and still am. Wish I could get them now that I'm back home!

So glad we found this place on our walking tour, very simple interior, busy atmosphere, but man o man are those little meat filled pastries good :)

The guaranteed salteñas of La Paz. Eating a salteña is tricky.... especially if they are not fresh. You can get all types of intestinal infections, hepatitis, etc. etc. With these salteñas you are guaranteed, fresh and healthy. Don´t just eat anything in the streets, quite dangerous.

Been here multiple times, and there's a reason for that - quality. They have been around for a while and are known to be one of the best. Nowadays you see many competitors but Paceña holds its place. Their salteñas are a bit smaller for that price (6bs) but the quality and taste is superior. They offer nice juice as... More

Delicious Saltena snacks and fast, friendly service. Cheap as chips - very tempting to eat too many.

Very similar in concept to Asia's curry puffs, except the pastry itself is not flaky or salty! That said I loved the slightly sweet dough taste and juicy meat fillings. Good for a mid morning snack on the way to get some cash.

We went here for a low cost lunch and the salthenas were delicious. A much better alternative than the nearby cafes which charge a lot more for a simple sandwich. We had vegetable and chicken, our advice is to get two as they're quite small.

Decided to chose this spot to taste our first saltenas. Definitely a good choice as these piping hot pastries deserve a seat given the gravy spillages that are likely to occur when first eaten. Food was tasty and service quick.
