Wish I could revisit

I went to al khawali several times before the war. I just fell in love with the ambience and the food....! Freshly baked pans with the best hummus in the world. Highly, highly recommended when you can visit there again.

My wife and I visited Syria just before the war began. Al Khawali was the best restaurant we visited in Damascus; and we had dinner here several times. One of the nicest place in Damascus. Wandering how they're going right now… Me and my girlfriend fell in love with this place the first time we get in.

This place has the right combo of services. The camas Ian atmosphere, combined with great tasting food. I only wished they had better argeeleh or a musical program. Excellent destination for a family gathering or a tourist destination. Make reservation before you go. Valet parking available.

Reading reviews is a bad idea as you set off with lofty expectations.. We expected the last word in Al Khawali from reading reviews. Indeed the bread is divine but the food is really only average. None of 3 of us enjoyed it much. Naranja is far better (and they serve alcohol..). But then we hadn't even heard of Naranja... More

A lovely old damscene house. Bread prepared fresh and served hot. Amazing food. First night was fantastic. Second night was a bit less magical as they had laid a big table (about 30 people) which took away a bit of the magic... I understand they might want to accept groups but probably better to leave them in tables of 6... More
