Lebanese home dishes away from home.

the waiters were very friendly and told us much about their local dishes and gave us good recommendations. the food was excellent, even when not our usual preferred choice. you can have half portions and mix your dishes. they don't offer alcohol!

MUST GO! SUPERB!

We went here twice. Absolutely loved the ambiance and food and setting. Kibbeh Arrabieh was lovely and their breads were to de for. We had Turkish coffee and Mouhalabieh (Lebanese Milk Flan) with orange blossom water. Something just so nice and personal about that place that we returned. Deserves a better rating for what it is really.

Catering on my birthday

It was my birthday I ordered Koussa and warak inab and other things. Rosto, pies, grape leaves. Koussa and waraa inab was not just terrible, it was a disaster. Ground beef inside all red not cooked, steak meat so hard( I don’t know why not lamb chops). Waraa inab is so bad( they don’t even add lemon). I can tell u, for the last 40 yrs, my family used Socrate on many occasions, I can assure this is company is going down with quality , I am so disappointed, my guests were making fun of all this. I have pictures and invoice and videos to support all this. Rosto and the rest were just ok. Nothing to say Wow. What a disappointing experience on a special day.

Acceptable food quality, bad service

We made a reservation a day before for an iftar in Ramadan. Surprisingly we were offered the tiniest table ever that fits for only two plates and cutlery 🙄. Upon referring to the manager, she was so rude and said,”this is what we have you’re free to take it or leave it” Worth noting that we are regular old loyal customers but unfortunately like most things in Lebanon now the quality of products has deteriorated including the service Tooooo bad

The Best Food in the World!

I don’t know if there is a cuisine in which Socrate may have a weakness. Because these people are geniuses at making the most delicious version of every recipe. I’ve been accused of bias. Especially by my brother in law who is a famous chef. And every single time we go back to Socrate. Add to the above that they are very reasonable in pricing. Never arrogant. Always super helpful. On time. GENEROUS. AND they can do it all, down to the chair and fork in catering. They also run a restaurant in Hamra that serves the same level of culinary wonderfulness. So yes. Socrate makes the best food you can have. Especially when it comes to catering.

Lunch at Socrate

Our lunch today was at one of my favorite restaurants Socrate in Hamra. As usual the welcome was very warm, the staff friendly. The restaurant is known for its traditional lebanese food. We ordered taboulé, fattoush,hindbé, batata harra, french fries with roasted meat and sautéed vegetables, meat shawarma, mou3ajanat, mixed grill, homos and moutabal.They also have an open salad bar with a big variety of delicious lebanese mezze dishes. One should also taste their pastries. They do catering and delivery. All what we ordered was mouthwatering, I highly recommend Socrate for its cleanliness and tasty food.

Really delicious, fresh and hot meals are served at this restaurant. The prices are great , the service is prompt and punctual, the hygiene is optimal and the staff is really well trained and professional.

Nice Lebanese food

The food is really nice and the people who work there are nicer! You have the possibility to see the food before you order, and they have a lot of authentic Lebanese food. It is also pretty cheap when you see how much food you get for the price. They also have take-out, so if you want to eat there, but not sit at the restaurant, you can do that.

Delicious Lebanese food

Enjoyable meal, especially for lunch. Their daily special is always fresh and authentic Lebanese food. Serivce is good, they need more servers. Bread is delicious and food variety is excellent. Their deserts are also delicious.

Great Salad Bar

This restaurant is old and famous and offers great salad bar with lots of Lebanese dishes and appetizers and if you are hungry can with order a la Carte or take from their daily dishes ready menu Food is excellent, clean and tasty

Okay but nothing special

This place is more like a cafeteria, casual and friendly. Service okay Lots of food variety But the food is bland and very heavy It felt like mass production and not fresh and sophisticated!!! Everything we tried was average But not tasty! I heard good things about this joint but overall I was disappointed😩 Can’t recommend this restaurant

Authentic Lebanese food

Socrate is a historic restaurant and caterer that offers authentic home-like Lebanese food. They have a daily buffet from which you can chose your meal. The place is known for its food quality and cleanliness.
