I’ve never wrote a review on trip advisor before but my experience in this restaurant needs to be heard. It’s a very nice restaurant, excellent eating experience, meal was served hot and excellent taste. The waiter was very friendly and helpful his name was louay...i guess. Will visit again soon for sure.More

We went to see the place and it is very beautiful, it has views of the city, but for me it was very expensive for what they give. We ordered a manaquish of halloumi cheese and for the price, I've had better! a lemon mint...juice that was half foam ... they should lower the prices, the use local product and you pay as if you were in Paris. All comply with the VOC-19 measure. I would not go back to this place and I would not recommend it.More

What a great place, lovely concept, set in an old house in the old city of Amman, Amazing food (mostly vegetarian), focused on speciality house dishes from the Middle East, always very fresh and super tasty. Very friendly staff as well. they have a great...outdoor area too and a nice shop as well. well worth visiting.More

Really enjoyed the food here, you won’t find the typical mansef but other local delicacies are on the menu like stuffed cucumber and stuffed onion, hummus, bread, eggplant etc . The atmosphere was also nice and some Thurs they have party and it can get...busy in the outside area. We had the Mezes from the happy hour menu and a few beers- Carakale which is local Jordanian (lager, ale)- was gooood as well, went down like a thirsty man! Cost us about 50dinar for two. Worth it.More

Shams El Balad is an authentic place that offers the best traditional food in town; the chef is novel in the taste s/he creates and is creative in how s/he imagines new recipes. What makes this space special to many is the warm hospitality and...kindness of the manger, Tala, Ibrahim and the staff who are deservingly described as competent and very sweet. Tala and Ibrahim are very keen to make your stay in the restaurant joyful and memorable. I recommend this place very highly.More

Shams El Balad is one of my favorite spots in Amman, it's very popular with the expat crowd. The food has a playful twist traditional Jordanian dishes and the restaurant itself is wonderful inside or outside all year-round. Their happy hour specials are also a...great price! Definitely a great spot if you are visiting Amman and want more upscale dining experience that still feels authentic.More

We had a gathering of 10 people after work to celebrate achieving a milestone and the birthday of one of our colleagues. We had drinks and a wide selection of mezze. The food was excellent, the setting comfortable and spacious, and the staff were helpful...and welcoming. Just what we needed for a relaxed and happy time. At other times I have eaten here à deux and have been impressed - interesting and delicious food and a pleasant, easy atmosphere. The building oozes charm and has an interesting shop attached.More

It way overrated especially by tourist , the food is below average nothing really taste good. People who’s not from the country doesn’t know the real taste of the food . The only nice thing about the place is the atmosphere, waiters are really nice...but they are taught to keep telling the customer when you order that the food will take 20-25 min!!! It’s annoying to keep telling me that!!! Do you think I will wait 25 min to get another order of makeesh??? We also ordered tea and by mistake we got two pots, he asked us if we want it ? Because we will pay for it in not removed !! God it’s only tea pot nothing really coasty!!!is it worth asking the question to remove it. And the bill was the bom!!!! 85 JD for what!!!! Breakfast for some eggs manakeesh and some other plates... They are trying hard to be unique and it’s not working with them. Only beetroot flafel taste good!!!! I don’t recommend it at all. You can have a cup of tea to enjoy the atmosphere but not to eat.More

Winter is pretty cold outside. You better have a jacket if you are sitting outside. The food is so special. You don’t get to eat like it anywhere else. It’s not a common Arabic/Jordanian food, there is a flavor to it that makes it yummy...and authentic as well.More

My favorite place in Jordan! Great place for breakfast really good choices and a great way to have a taste of local flavors and ingredients. Try their sumac sunny side up it’s really good! Also great service. They have a nice boutique I recommend getting...gifts for family and friends back home from here, like their zaater and dukkah blends.More
