About
Hashem... A continuous ambition “If you haven’t tasted Hashem Down-town you haven’t been to Jordan”, that’s what any Jordanian and especially Ammani’s would think. As we are not exaggerating when we say that every Ammani has had at least one meal at Hashem’s Restaurant. Don’t be surprised when you see the old grandparent who used to have his breakfast at Hashem when he was young, is having suhor with his grandchildren on the same table sharing with them some of his memories. The fact that the memories and the past stimulates the future, has motivated Hashem’s management to expand all over the Middle East and in some other countries in the world to solidify and glorify the unique story of Hashem and all what it carries from ancient past, strong presence and ambitious future.

This place is a bit of a legend around Amman with pictures of the King and his family enjoying the traditional food at this street restaurant. Reported to have some of the best hummus in town, the place is always busy with locals and the food is really inexpensive and amazing value for money. The service is very quick and the food is on your table in no time. We shared a simple hummus, salad baba ganoush, flats bread platter, with a black tea and a coke and the price came to about 4.5JOD. It was enough to fill us both up, and we were still not hungry by dinner time. If you are in Amman you have to check this place out...you will really enjoy the food and the local atmosphere.

Come to Hashems and try the hummus, babaganoush and falafel. They are a classic and this is the best and cheapest place to eat them. Service is quite good and you can't beat the price - we paid JD 4.5 for the three dishes and it was enough for two hungry people. Give it a go.

YESSS! Amazing hummus and falafels! Even if you're not hungry, you have to make a stop at Hashem. It's quick, cheap and centrally located. We ordered hummus, falafels, eggplant and the meal came with onions, tomatoes and 2 pieces of bread, all for 4.50JD! We went at night, and there was plenty of seating. I would fly back to Jordan again just for that meal! :)

This places serves one style of food and does it brilliantly well. If you crave great mezze, snappy service and rubbing elbows with locals, head here. It is a great local food quick bite option and the food is very tasty. We were a bit grumpy because they did not serve us several of the elements they were supposed to, but reduced the price from 7 to 6 JD when we pointed this out. Keep an eye on this to make sure you get what you have paid for – and westerners often just let this under servicing pass – we do not!

We were travelling in Jordan during Ramadan, and went to Hashem for dinner. It was such a unique experience to break the fast with locals and travellers alike on our first night in Amman. We watched the kitchen prepare hundreds of dishes and the waitstaff came around delivering the dishes to each table. No menus, but the staff were helpful in explaining a dish if we had questions. Once the call to prayer ended we enjoyed a delicious vegetarian meal of hummus, moutabel, falafel, bread and more. Highly recommend for a tasty and inexpensive meal in Amman.

The place has the best hummus we have ever eaten and is a front runner for the best falafel. Don't bother with menus and just go mezze style and order a few dishes recommended by the waiter. The place is perfect a quick meal at a great price. No trip to Amman should be done without a visit here.

Did take away one night during Ramadan. The freshest, most tasty felafel I have ever eaten. Along with some mutabal (eggplant dip) that was mind-blowingly good. A light dipping sauce was included for the felafel as well as pita. All for about $3 USD. Wish this place was in my neighborhood at home.

Managed expectations are necessary for anyone looking for refined dining. The tables are plastic, a thin plastic sheet is put over the table. The kitchen is open to the restaurant and the seating is partially outside under a canopy, presumably this is dispensed with in the summer. The food is served rapidly and in a very informal manner. There are the standards, as pictured humus in all its variations, falafel, tomatoes and greens. It was difficult to get a napkin as they are more tissue like and only useful by the handful. Interesting place to sit and watch folks coming and going. Upon my visit it was not filled with tourists, the informality might scare many off. The king and his family have eaten there - prominently posted pictures. Hashem is light on the budget and entertaining

A no-frills, delicious local place. I went on a Wednesday at lunch time and was the only non-local there. Can get busy during peak times. You basically just find any open table and sit. No real menu. Someone will come over and tell you what they have, very simple and basic, but DELICIOUS. I went twice during my short stay. Hummus and falafel were delicious and, of course, they offer you mint tea. Cash only, but super cheap. Great local authentic quick meal/snack.

Food is great whatever you order- Falafels, foul, fatteh, pickles, and stuffed falafels. I would say Falafels are one of the best in Amman. The pricing is so reasonable- we paid less than 20 JD for 8 people, which is absolutely amazing. However, if you are coming here make sure you go to washroom before coming or PRAY that you dont have to use the washrooms here. The washrooms are dirtiest I have even seen in any restaurant in the world, so plan accordingly.

On our first dinner in Amman - based on the reviews of previous customers - we turned to this very central restaurant, renowned for its hommos, so much so that, apparently, it is also sometimes frequented by the Jordanian royal family. Our expectations were not disappointed. The renowned hommos (chickpea puree with tahine, that is sesame cream) and the similar but different babaganoush (aubergine puree instead of chickpeas) arrived in succession at our table (there were 14 of us). Hommos was also present in the variety with roasted and chopped almonds. Then the falafel, that is the typical fried and spiced legume meatballs; and various excellent stewed and fresh vegetables. Everything was served in abundance; even too much, since unfortunately we were unable to consume everything that was brought to the table. In conclusion, I rate this restaurant as the best of our entire trip to Jordan.

Famous place with a simple menu of all the Jordan classics on it. They make everything themselves on premise, so be sure to take a look how the breads or the humus are made. Food is delicious, but service is mysterious at times (hence 4 instead of 5 stars)

My family and I dinned there. The first thing I noticed was that cleanness was not saficient, but in spite of this we decided to stay, as we had read very good reviews. There was no menu. The waitors, who were very polite, brought us 7-8 dishes and tea. The falafels were average and also most of the food. The best of it was the hummus (one of the best I ever tasted) and baba ganoush. For 3 adults we paid 6 JOD, which was very cheep. Although, most reviews are very good, I would not suggest it because you may have better quality of typical jordanian dishes in other restaurants and the insufficient cleanness

Our first lunch in Jordan and was so looking forward to it. The place is very busy (expected) but also very dirty. With the number of people they have passing through this place they need to employ a full-time cleaner. There was food all over the floor and people were pushing and shoving and walking the food everywhere. On the plus side it was very cheap but probably best described as average. The houmous was lovely as was the bread, the rest edible and chips cold. We ordered water but none came and tea was placed on the table without asking and was charged for it. I would say don't believe the hype and there are much better and more civilized places to eat.

After reading so many positive reviews, we came here with high expectations. Turns out the food was good but not great. We had hummus with meat and the grilled eggplant dip (i forgot that dish is called) and mint tea. The staff speak very little English but good enough to take our order. According to our driver, this place was very good many years ago but it's not as good now. Many places in Amman offer better hummus than this place...
