Between lockdowns we managed to spend several days in Tel Aviv so we treated ourselves to an outstanding dinner at Animar. With the view of the sea from our table facing the window, the calm and quiet ambience of Animar together with the excellent service...and absolutely scrumptious food made for an unforgettable experience. Each dish was delicious but the Krispy Kale salad was simply awesome.More

Excellent attentive service and wonderful view. Dish selection was complicated as the waiter tries to explain how hot ( spicy ) is the dish .... food was reasonable if you like it very spicy - even then you spend time "fishing" for red hot pepper...! Prices on the high side Too many paper napkins are used and too often are changed - environment considerations are out ...More

This was our fourth visit to Animar, so, clearly, we love the restaurant. Service was attentive, as always, and the charming view of the Tel Aviv beach in the background - never gets old. However, we were disappointed that some of our favorite dishes were...taken off the menu. First and foremost - the rice pudding dessert, which used to be a celebration in its own right. Secondly, the lamb stuffed zucchini. We also got the sense that the seasoning, overall, was tamed down a bit. The generous usage of exotic spices, for example, cardamon, that added a ellement of pleasant surprise in prior visits, was no longer noticeable, and that's too bad. at 1,250 shekels for four people, including some 5 glasses of wine, the meal was very reasonably priced (especially when comparing for example to Zepra). So, still excellent, but no longer the "WOW" it was before.More

Ate here with friends a few nights ago. The food was nice and satisfying. No real excitement from any dish. End up spending 150$ per couple. Good thing we came full.

We made a reservation after reading positive reviews on the new restaurant and saw N interesting menu. The restaurant is located is the space of old Raphael restaurant but the food and atmosphere are different. Haute Mediterranean cuisine and good wine selection, all reasonably priced,...diversified and delicious food and deserts. One of the more unique restaurants in Tel Aviv.More

Ever since the usually lethal food critic of Haaretz newspaper praised this place I added it to my list. It turns out that Animar is worth every praise, and then some! The food was innovative, with a lot of local/Middle Eastern touches, and the execution...was flawless. We tasted about 10 different dishes, and they were all excellent. The zucchini filled with ground lamb was particularly tasty (and we kept on wiping the tomato vinaigrette sauce off the plate with the excellent bread). Desserts were just as exciting - the rice pudding is a celebration on its own, to be shared among 2-3 people, and their airy version of creme Catalan was addicting. We'll definitely be back (if we could get a table). One tip: the dining room overlooks the ocean. If you go there in the spring/summer, you may be able include a beautiful sunset as well! (In the winter the sun sets too early, before they open for dinner).More

We went for a Saturday lunch with the family, we reserved a round table - important for this type of lunch - in a small private area behind a curtain so we had lots of privacy. The waitress and al the other help we got...was very good and all requests were immediately addressed. We had to replace two glasses as they were not clean enough, this should not happen in this type of fine dining restaurant yet can happen. The menu has different dishes separated by size of the dish going from Small, Medium, Large and Very large (sharing). The recommended, by the place, to eat is to share the dishes. While idea is nice I believe it is goo for up to 4 people, if more like us you end up just tasting a small portion of each which is some sort of a miss. in such cases my recommendation would be to order two of each and less dishes so you get to fully experience the taste of the wonderful dishes. Each plate size doe snot have many options so we ended ordering quite a few which was good. All dishes were very good. I can not seriously any flaw in any of what we ordered from start to finish. If you are vegetarian you have lots of options to choose from and if you eat fish you can do very well. Overall very few meat dishes on the menu. Deserts are also great. The Rice Pudding if only for share so keep in mind as it is a big serving. Tiramisu was very good. We even managed to meet the Chef who came, as my request, to say hello. Compliments to the waitress and the Chefs that pulled it of:-) again, no bad things, only great things to say about this place for now and I hope to come visit again. Note: need to reserve well in advance especially for large parties.More
