We thoroughly enjoyed a private cooking lesson with Kobi at the Shem Tov restaurant. It was part of a tour of the Mahane Yehuda market. He was warm and friendly and took us step by step through a delicious meal, starting with an explanation of the fish, vegetables and spices that come from the market. After we cooked, we sat... We visited here, myself, my daughters and my granddaughter. The food was made freshly, the barman/owner gave helpful suggestions and advice and was very accommodating with my grand daughter. Although a bit oily, we enjoyed the place and the atmosphere. We would go again.

Found this small cafe/restaurant by accident on the edge of Mahane Yehuda market. The welcome and service was really warm and friendly. The new owner (of three months) came over to chat and the waitress explained Israeli beers to us and let us taste. The All Day Breakfast, still being served at 9 pm, was huge and fantastic value. Our... More

We went to Shem Tov's as part of an Israeli/Moroccan cooking workshop. We had a great time. The chef Adi was friendly and interesting, and explained exactly what he was doing to create our wonderful dishes - Moroccan fish, tabuli salad, matbucha (hot and spicy delicious), and tahini. All ingredients were fresh from the shuk (marketplace where the restaurant is... More

I had high expectations from the reviews of this perfectly average cafe. The mushroom fettucine had perhaps one thinly sliced mushroom in it, nice pasta, nothing special. The shakshuka, again, perfectly ordinary, could make it better at home. Greek salad wasn't particularly appetizing, OK. The "Frena" bread is thick and heavy. The beer on tap was excellent (Shapira) and the service... More

I go to restaurants a lot and mostly they are high class restaurants, but when I was on Mahane Yehuda market I have stumbled upon Shem Tov caffe/restaurant which I absolutely loved. I was so impressed by the freshness of their food, but it all became clear when I was told that they buy all the ingredients right there, on... More

When i visit Israel I insist on having my coffees at Shem Tov. This is my home cafe, and such a chilled place to meet friends and make new friends. good food, goof coffee, cool people and still open for a late night cap.

My boyfriend and I passed by The Shem Tov Cafe initially but I saw the inside was really young and trendy compared to other places in Mahane Yehuda. It was all wood with colorfully printed pillows, and a really relaxing-looking patio/bar. We were greeted by a really nice waitress and she took us to one of the only patio table... More
