I felt I have regular fast food but for a price of a good restaurant ! There are much better restaurants in the area, so do not do the same mistake as I did...

Food was passable but as others have noted very pricey for casual Israeli staples. Service was atrocious. Very much a place that caters to tourists expecting to overpay for mediocre food. Walk 5 minutes to the Machane Yehuda area and find dozens of vastly superior choices.

I chose to sit at Alma after the nice guy from the front invited me to, and offered a card for a free drink. No water was served while I was sitting. The menu showed typical Israeli Grill dishes and soups. It was a bit pricy, especially when you do not get any salads appetizers, as usually done in this... More

First night we picked the place for a beer, nice offer for 15 Shekel and great location, We came back for the food next day and a a great selection of Israel dishes. Excellent soup and salad. Great bread selection and desserts. Beer and shots for reasonable prices.

The food at this restaurant was ok at best and the drinks were weak. The biggest highlight were the wait staff who were helpful just over whelmed at the time. Would I go back? No would I recommend it No.

This restaurant is tucked away around a corner in a quiet square. They have outdoor and indoor seating. There are about 5 different kinds of soup in summer and 10 kinds in winter. Inexpensive, filling and delicious. The Kubeh soup is fantastic - either beet or sour. The Kubeh is the real thing made with real meat, not ground meat.... More

We greatly enjoyed a recent lunch at Alma Restaurant. We had been strolling the streets of Center City in modern Jerusalem (a very enjoyable activity) & were "enticed" to enter Alma for what proved to be a very enjoyable lunch ("Free" beverages w/ our meal was the enticement). I'd summarize Alma as follows: family-run, Israeli, kosher, Middle Eastern food, homemade,... More

Told us they didn't serve tap water to make us buy a bottle. As if this isnt bad enough when we had finished our meal we saw them serve tap water to the table behind us. Felt they took advantage of us as tourists. Food was average nothing special.

They propose a few soups possibilities which are nice and cheap, good meat dishes, nice table outside, a little tiny inside. But the atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly. They really want to please you.

My wife and I ate at the Alma in Jerusalem while visiting our daughter and it was great. We had the Schnitzel and Beef Kabobs, plus the "Alma bread." The food was excellent and the service superb. Highly recommended!
