While visiting the Israel Museum, be sure to take in Modern! Home-made hummus with chickpeas and pita make a good starter. Their "Business Lunch"--served until 17:00--includes soup or salad and lemonade. Jackson's Chicken and Nuts Kadaif is very tasty. The Kadaif crispy threads are nice, but the chicken, onion and walnut stuffing is even better!

While on a visit to the Israel museum we were pleasantly surprised by the caliber of Modern Restaurant. What started as a quick coffee fix ended up being a delicious tapas and wine break before heading back into the museum. Quality of food and service were great. More

We planned to stop here after the fantastic Israel Museum closed, but we had the times wrong and the restaurant had just closed when we arrived. Thankfully the staff were kind enough to offer us two generous portions of delicious lentil soup with tasty bread and drinks anyway, which was greatly appreciated! So, while didn't try the full menu this... More

This does not seem as the place to look for gourmet food, and the Kosher sign rarely bodes well, taste wise. Yet the Suffrito, a Sephardic beef casserole, was one of the best dishes I have ever had in an Israeli restaurant. Here it was served with potatoes and chestnuts, and was absolutely sensational.

The restaurant is inside the Israel Museum and is a pleasant addition to the visit in the museum. The place is quite full and it is better to reserve a table. VIP visitors prefer the place too so better check if the place is closed to the public, so again check it. Saying so the place is not so expensive... More

What makes Modern happen is the spaces, both interior and exterior. In contrast to most cramped Jerusalem restaurants, the restaurant is so big you have your privacy. The museum setting also contributes to this sense of exclusivity. As to the food, the selection is not wide, but what we had was fine. The business lunch is ample enough for two,... More

Great restaurant. Even if you don't tour the museum - which you should - you should eat at Modern. Excellent food, atmosphere, & service!
