We visited Nafoura on a wet and cold evening in Winter. The owner/host was very welcoming and called his waiter to seat us. The restaurant quickly filled up and food was flowing out the kitchen... Always a good sign for freshness as turn over of...food can = fresh food made more often (no always but a good guideline). The Hummus was exceptional and I still think about it. Falafels were also very good.
Overall the restaurant is medium to large and busy, don't let the small front entrance fool you. Staff friendly and try their best to help you.
We thoroughly enjoy our supper.
Would definitely return for another visit.More
While staying at the Notre Dame Hotel, my tour group was hosted at this restaurant. Our tour leader has known the owners for years so I think we had extra-special attention. If you are a fan of Palestinian food or just want to try something...well within your comfort zone this is the place. There aren't that many nice restaurants within the Old City walls, and most are either fast food or very expensive. This restaurant is neither. Naboura has a huge outdoor dining space which you do not often find in Jerusalem - and it is close to Jaffa Gate. The grilled meats are very tasty and you can easily share an entree with two people. Vegetarian dishes and salads are also highly recommended. Wine list is not extensive but you can get a good Israeli wine for 90NIS - which is a good deal.More
We discovered this restaurant quite by chance and enjoyed a delicious lunch of well-flavoured, well-cooked foods, accompanied by chilled drinks on a hot day. We enjoyed good service in the welcoming and peaceful surroundings of the lovely courtyard.
Some friends and I visited Nafoura because it is well-reviewed and less than a block from our hotel (Gloria Hotel). The large patio was very enjoyable to sit at - at least until a couple of large groups arrived. The food was good, but I...would have expected much better, given the price point. Lamb chops (3) with rice and side salads was 138 shekels (approx $40), and were not particularly special. A bottle of Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon cost over 300 shekels, which is nearly a 300% mark up over retail prices. If I were to spend this much money on a meal again in Jerusalem, I would spend just a few shekels more and go to Eucalyptus for truly fine dining.More
Hmmmm so good! We had a group of 20 people the bbq dishes and the spreads are amazing. The fries are to die for. Chicken kebab and fish all taste good. We ended the lunch with knaffe and Arabic coffee.
This place was recommended by a local Israel resident and we are glad we went . Had a delicious lunch so decided to return for a dinner .
Nice outdoor seating and good attentive service .
Just inside Jaffa gate .
