When we first came here it looked very home grown and we were a bit skeptical but as we sat down and experienced the atmosphere we realized we picked the perfect place. The owner is very kind and told us about his ventures around the US and how his family owns many businesses around Selcuk, etc. when the bread, yogurt, and some spice spread came out we demolished it and they brought more and seemed happy we were enjoying their food. The food was very fresh and I even saw the very wholesome cook in the back. I recommend this place, they’re very accommodating and the food is delicious.

We popped by for dinner. Alibaba gave a friendly welcome and took time to chat to us.
We selected the mixed meze which was generous and delicious served with fresh bread.
For mains we had the chicken shish and lamb shish which were both succulent and well seasoned.
There were choices of soft drinks and Efes beer but no wine.
The price was 910 TL which was excellent value for such good food.

I saw the cook on our first day in Selcuk, on our walk towards Temple of Artemis. She was quietly kneading dough and put it on a cooking tool I had not seen before. Rushing to see many sights, I made a mental note of the store sign and the handwritten dish name Gozleme. We went back on another day after our Ephesus Museum visit as the restaurant is very near. Gozleme is Turkish pancake and we ordered 3 kinds (spinach, spinach & cheese and one with meat). We watched the cook as she made our orders with precision and a smile. The Gozleme were tasty and the kebab sampler we ordered were good too. We were given bread and dips as we waited. There were 3 persons running the restaurant then and it took time to make the orders. We did not mind. There were tables across the restaurant, and we ate our lunch there. Prices are very reasonable. Simple food in a simple place, made with great care.

They took very good care of me, the food arrived fast and I was even able to order food "to go" so that I had food for dinner. The food is tasty and cheap. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Enjoyed early dinner at an outside table right next to the archaeological museum. Food was delicious with lots of fresh veggies -- loved the stuffed eggplant appetizer! Owner is very nice to talk with and it was a relaxing, fun meal

Recommended by our guesthouse we went to lunch in this small place. We had lunch in the benches on the street, in the shade of a large tree. Very kind owners, great food and really honest prices. My daughters (6 and 9 years old) also enjoyed everything. I ordered a gozleme and the lady cooked it right in front of my eyes. Also nice to look at. Highly recommended.

I found the food in Selcuk a bit hit or miss, so was glad to stumble upon here on my last day. Good kebab and I enjoyed the stuffed aubergine, which was something a bit different and had a very home cooking feel to it. Reasonably priced, for that and a drink it came to $6. Some nice rugs and cushion covers on sale next door as well.

Shocked, no single guest was in the restaurant, I was expected to be crowded according to the good reviews. I ordered Adana Kebab, but it tastes not related to a kebab or even Adana. Seems like a frozen commercial cheap kebab or looks like, cooked in a pan with little oil. I didn't try any other stuff. Lovely old couples running the restaurant. It seems reviews can mislead sometimes. Selcuk seems not a good place to have a decent authentic meal compared to Izmir.

A family style restaurant with not so good service.
1. The kebab is really nice, the name of the restaurant is right, this is really a kebab house with delicious kebab. The meat is cooked thoroughly, it is tender and juicy.
2. The service however might not be very nice (Probably because we are in a hurry) We have waved at the owner pretty much time but he ignored us or he keep on saying coming. After talking to his friends, he finally come and take our order.
3. Apart from the service which is probably because we are in a hurry. The food is quite nice :)

Stopped in after visiting St. John Basilica and had a lovely conversation with Ali Baba and a tasty stuffed eggplant with a lamb durum (lamb and French fries and some veges wrapped) which was also good. As others have written, he sells Turkish carpets and has a warehouse in the US from where he starts an annual trip selling carpets to clients from the back of the truck. Learned a lot in the time we spoke about hand made Turkish carpets. And the table I chose was outside on a lovely April evening - think I was there for over an hour. 5 stars for the eggplant and conversation.

Pretended not to understand west and english, yet proclaimed to be from Birmingham so would clearly understand english. Took 40 minutes for a kebab and acted as if I was wrong for thinking 40 minutes is long. Bunch of conman

Extremely fresh and tasty food. Super affordable and owner is very welcoming. Rest of selcuk can be quite touristy so do come here if you want authentic Turkish cuisine

Highly recommend! Got the kofte and mixed grill and it was fantastic. We also got bread and yummy sauce as a starter which the meal. The bread was fresh as. Great service too!
