Very authentic rustic rural cuisine. Simple spicier (mild)Anatolian authentic cuisine. Get a sampler of dishes/sides on way in at entrance and look at the main meats and soups and breads and desserts and get orders scribbled on a piece of paper before heading to table...for an easy ordering experience. The service was quick despite being super busy . Could be daunting for a first timer seeking a gourmet sit down dining experience. But we quickly realized this was rustic turkey at its best. ferry trip to kadikoy across to Asian side and a short walk across to CIYA through bustling streets is a must .More

Delicious |Anatolian cooking in a vibrant, cool part of Istanbul. Mezze dishes sold by weight. Kind, helpful staff.

Simply delicious. If you’ve been dining out in Istanbul the foods will be familiar however the flavors are superior. Every dish we tried was so fresh and flavorful. You can walk in and view the prepared foods which they will then bring to your table...or order from a more extensive menu. The green tomatoes mousaka was a favorite as were the stuffed vegetables.More

Had lunch there on October 25, didn't realize that it opens at noon but no matter as I had fun walking the streets nearby. It wasn't busy at noon and I sat outside, ordered the small portion of lentil soup, kebab with celery, spinach with...olive oil and stuffed intestines (serving comes in 3 sizes: small, medium and large) . Stuffed intestines (with rice) was bland, the other dishes were excellent. Service so so. Disappointed that the meal came with 2 pieces of brown bread (didn't eat) instead of the "balloon bread" that is served at Ciya Kebab across the street. None the less, it was an enjoyable meal while spending time exploring Kadikoy.More

We visited as part of a taste of 2 continents walking tour. A spread of dishes were set down to enjoy. Ask for the little booklet that tells you all about the passion and vision of this chef owner. This is the place to enjoy...trying food you do not know but will easily fall in love with. Wonderful for vegetarians too as many dishes make use of local vegetable fruit and grain and herb ingredients used in home cooked Turkish food. Highly recommended.More

We knew this restaurant from the Netflix series “Chef’s table” and very much liked the owner’s idea of combining the dishes from all around Turkiye. I must say this was the best food experience that we had in Turkiye, forget about all the kebabs (but...also, their fistiq kebab was super delicious). They have a daily menu from which I recommend to choose 4-5 different dishes and just try it. You’ll have handful of options including vegetarian. Everything was mouthwatering🤤. On top of everything is the service, thanks to the whole collective for making this experience unforgettable.More

Whenever I am in Kadiköy, one of my favourite quarters in Istanbul, I will not miss having a lunch at the Ciya Sofrasi. This time I was with my wife and our grandson, but I had already once written about the place in May 2015....Either one selects items downstairs at the open display, best in the presence of a waiter, who then bings the food upstairs, where one usually sits, or one orders from the menu card. This time we had Stuffed Dried Vegetables (eggplants, peppers), a selection of various fried vegetables and a Thyme Salad. It is not the cosiest place to have a meal, but here one really just comes for the food.More

The place is very busy but it's possible to find a sit and avoid the crowd. But unfortunately even if you manage to sit outside, sometimes you find annoying people smoking. The staff works very fast so you won't spend so much time waiting for...the food or the bill. The food is delicious, although depending on what you order. For example, lentil soup is awesome, but small lahmacun has no flavor at all. As for sweets, künefe is perfect.More

This restaurant provides you with an opportunity to select dishes from a buffet. We have been here twice and overall the food is very good. This is on the Asian side of the river, but this restaurant is worth the ferry ride. Recommend this restaurant...highly.More

Oh, yes indeed. DO come to eat here. Our group of 21 was seated quickly and a number of wait staff were very quick to start bringing out platters of goodies. The meals were served "family style," and there were SO MANY plates to choose...from that just sampling each one was enough to really fill your belly. The spicing was very nice; the aromas and the furnishings all added to the experience. Yes indeed. Do come to eat here.More

We stumbled on Ciya by chance, walking the streets of Kadikoy, we are so pleased we did. There are a number of restaurants on the road, this was the busiest and we were able to get a seat outside. We ordered off the menu, prices...very reasonable for a pita, kebab and Kajit Kebab, pictured, one of the tastiest if not the tastiest kebab I have ever eaten. Turkish tea and sherbet drink rounded a very enjoyable lunch offMore

I don't think Çiya needs another review. This place is one of the best. I highly recommend it. If you are visiting Istanbul, you should stop by to eat at one point. I'm giving 4 stars just because I believe they can have a little...bit more vegetarian options. They have a great meze bar, it is mostly vegetarian but the hot dishes could definitely feature some more vegetarian dishes.More
