Nice place with a small terrace. Food was great, I eat a kind of Turkish pizza. We got the dessert for free. Great service and nice music in the background.

Our local hotel recommended the restaurant to us and we were delighted with our meal and the service. Nothing fancy but just good delicious food. The portions were ample and the meal was inexpensive. We also ate here twice during our stay in Istanbul. It is located a short walk from the Hippodrome area on a quiet and interesting street.

Nice little restaurant in a residential area. The adana kebab was the best one that I had during my week stay in IST. Friendly staff, easy to read menu and reasonable prices.

We arrived at our hotel late afternoon and wanted to eat somewhere local to our hotel and Cesme was recommended to us. This cosy little restaurant is a hidden gem! Simple decor, friendly staff and delicious food. The adana kebab and mushroom casserole were both delicious. We couldn't believe how cheap the bill was for such high quality food!

Delicious and well priced food - the Cesme special is a must, and the Chicken Grill is also delicious. The wait staff were lovely, and even threw in a free coffee and tea on our last night in Istanbul. The upstairs level also has a beautiful relaxed feel, with a good view of the street below and a warm fireplace... More

We ate our last meal in Istanbul at the restaurant, across the street from our hotel. The food was delicious and the service was quite good.

Tarihi Cesme Restaurant is located in the historical heart of Istanbul on the half-island of Eminonu very near to the big sights like the little Aya Sofya mosque and the old Sokullu baths. The restaurant has three storeys and a romantic garden with a view on the centuries old fountain and the picturesque streets. On the menu you’ll find the traditional Turkish dishes; hot as well as cold food. Off course all the kebaps are served, but the restaurant also serves fresh fish, pides and one should really try the house speciality: Cesme kebap. A real treat! We would like to welcome you in our restaurant one day.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
