Tried the Aubergine with meat. It was meh, lukewarm eggplant with some beef pieces. Kid had the spaghetti with watery marinara sauce. Female had the sea bream, came without any seasoning not even salt. Take a pass and go somewhere else!

Family of four went, the food is fine, nothing special but it was nice, I had the lentil soup which was good, the kebabs were very average, as was the meat balls. Not very expensive but we have had better for less in Istanbul.

good food not great. I know this place is supposed to be somewhat famous but I'm not sure why. Atmosphere not great and food only fair. The service was very good and people were very friendly.

When I saw that the Pudding Shop was still in operation, I could not resist but enter and have a meal. My first time there was in 1969, and then in 1972 and 1973. The last two dates on my way to and return from India. The Pudding Shop was the place where all hippies were meeting and exchanging tips... More

I got the tomato sauce on lamb and bread and it was fairly good. The atmosphere was quaint. The chicken was good on the plate lIe a filet and the kabob of chicken was ok. Overall, it seem a little pricey for a lunch place. The service was fast and courteous. There are a lot of places to eat and... More

The pudding shop has a fun history, but the food is not that good. I am actually a big fan of pudding, and had amazing puddings at other spots in Istanbul. The pudding here was the worst I had on my trip.

We were the only customers when we visited here. 10 a.m. on a Monday morning. The waiter was attentive and almost desperate for us to order something extensive. The food we had was pleasant and the cost reasonable but there is nothing here now to distinguish this restaurant from many others … apart from photographs of the restaurant's history in... More

Since its days as a stop on the backpacker Marrakesh-to-khatmandu route, this steam-table cafe has served up presentable, if not exciting, Turkish food. We enjoyed the mushroom caps stuffed with ground meat and topped with bechamel, while our companions reported enjoying a pasta dish that looked a lot like macaroni and cheese. The standout was the signature dish -- rice... More

I'm surprised the reviews here are so bad.... We went here for lunch with our tour guide. Nice selection of food that was fast and easy. Recommend the rice pudding

The sign intrigues you and the guy out front invites you in. You decided to stay and sit down. Eventually someone waits on you and bring you some just OK standard fare. You don't mind cuz you are looking forward to dessert - some pudding. I ordered the chocolate and what a disappointment. It tasted a lot like Jello instant... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
