Even that was a new concept for me but for a potato I paid twice price of a normal meal in Istanbul. I will not repeat this

Like subway sandwich, they take big size potato (really big. Not seen this big potato) and bake them. After baking they cut half and put cheese and butter and knead with smash potato. Then they fill with salad, veggis and other veg and non veg filling. You have option of veg also. A must try dish.

Good palce to get some food in you fast. It is kinda on the expensive side for basic street food since its on Istiklal, but you get a lot of potato and its pretty tasty. Anything they have is pretty good.

Whether choosing it baked or fried, you will certainly be satisfied. I recommend especially for shoppers on Istiklal steet who won"t afford losing time in a fancy restaurant. Very generous by the way

Difficult to get the token to enable the potato maker to start his work. Language issue, and finally when he does start stuffing the potato, he's in a tearing hurry so if you are unsure of what you want, he gets impatient as there's a line building up. So make sure of all your toppings before you get in line... More

Patatos must be one of the best fast food places along Istiklal. We were attracted by the glorious baked potatoes that we saw being prepared! We promised to pay this place a visit in one of our next gastronomic endeavours and the next day we were ordering our own baked potatoes!!! It was a very cold January day full of... More

Be sure to try the kumpir (if I am correct) which is a big baked potato filled with everything you want. They also serve doner which I didn't buy because it was rather expensive. The tables are modern and the place is spacious.

The place was recommended by a friend. We had to wait for thirty minutes but the taste was worth the delay. Highly recommended when in Istiklal Street.

Honest and inexpensive solution for a quick snack/meal on Istiklal Caddesi. Of course the best-seller of this place is the Turkish kumpir / baked potato filled-in with butter, cheese and a variety of salads, corn, olives etc. The long queue is always on the side where the kumpirs are being prepared; doner/chicken sandwiches are ok too but as told before... I am amazed as to how the crew manage to prepare meals for a long queue in minutes without any engineering as a mc donalds may have. Food is tasty.

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
