Location and contact

Hayvore means ‘I’m here’ in the Black Sea Laz language and is a somewhat ironic title as the food at Hayvore easily speaks for itself. Specializing in dishes from the Black Sea region, this friendly place is tucked down a side street off Istiklal Caddesi, close to Galatasaray Lycee. As you enter this modern eatery with shiny white walls and large photos of green landscapes from the hills of the Black Sea, take a moment to pause at the counter and marvel at the colors and smells from the food being displayed and prepared. Dried corncobs and peppers hang over head whilst plates of butterflied hamsi (a type of anchovy), bowls of steaming stews and homemade pstry desserts hint at the feast to follow

We ordered the fish, anchovies omelette, plus chicken and lentil soup. Everything was very tasty, especially the fresh bread that they gave us. The price was fair, we really regret not trying to order more.

We came here on the recommendation of our lonely planet guide. Perhaps it’s a little old but it seemed a bit off in its descriptions. I ordered the vegetarian mixed plate and my partner the meat one. Whilst some of mine tasted ok it was...More
