Casually Fantastic

We went in January so bare that in mind but the place was beautifully low key with really tasty food. The ambiance was very relaxed and quite which is what we needed after the hussle and bussle of Taxim Square. Definitely recommend, get the chicken and almond dish, it's very nice.

Hidden between the various tourist's traps we found this little lovely restaurant. The service was quick n adequate,we weren't astonished by the Black Sea cuisine(but maybe it's just our peculiar taste) but it is worth a try.Price was honest n we tried an amazing Turkish rose' wine.

Away from the tasteless tourists traps or the fairly nice but average restaurants in the area, this one is for those who are looking for something different tied to the Turkish roots with a kind of an artsy and rustic feel to it. It is one of those precious little gems that stays in your mind and hope to go... More

This restaurant is on one of the back streets of Istikla Caddesi. It has 2 halls but not big. Service staff were friendly and helpful. We had soups as a starter. The vermicells were too much in the tomato soup. I had meat on mashed hot aubergine like a 'kebab'. It was ok but not great. My friend sent his... More

I was unsure about having dinner at Kelmuri based on some pretty negative reviews, but I'm so glad we went INSPITE of them. My husband and I had a GREAT DINNER and left stuffed and satisfied. The food was creative, or so we thought compared to the amount of places we ate at that had very similar menus, but still... More

The variety is wonderful and they have plenty of vegetarian options. Excellent food and warm friendly service. Excellent place to have lunch or dinner after a long day of roaming the streets of Taksim

Hidden in a small street near Taksim, it is not easy to find. We had our gps to provide orientation, but locals will have an easier time finding it. Once inside, the service is nice, although sometimes too distant. We went there twice and both times were really happy with the food. From the meatballs (which are not really balls)... More

We based our decision to go here on the other good reviews. We found the food very interesting, if not always completely to our taste. I'd recommend Klemuri to those looking for a real Turkish meal. We're not vegetarians or vegans!

It was really nice, homemade type of food. We were getting tired of touristic food and prices, but this restaurant saved us!! So yummy yummy and yummy!! We still talk about this place from time to time. Definitely going back again whenever we visit Istanbul.

Tucked into a side street away from the crowds, Klemuri was a hidden gem. Its decor reminded us of eating in a French or Italian bistro. We split a bottle of wine from the Black Sea region and enjoyed our meals (steak for her, meatballs wrapped in phyllo dough for me). It was very quiet, and it felt like we... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
