We dine here often. This is a traditional Turkish Seafood restaurant located in the heart of Besiktas Çarşı one of the oldest and most colourful districts of Istanbul. Serving predominantly seafood dishes it does offer a number of non-seafood alternatives. There is a seating area outside and inside is a little traditional old Turkish restaurant. Very popular amongst the local... More

We went here with a turkish family that had read positive reviews about this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Although we've had better service at other places (we had to ask for things twice sometimes were we'd been spoiled in other places with not having to ask at all), it wasn't nearly as bad as some reviewers have described. Staff... More

Servis, food both terrible, they even can not fry and serve a fresh palamut fish after waiting quite sometime.

Directly located at the fish market of Beskitas. Friendly and helpful staff. Meze are very tasty, also the fish. Ask for catch of the day. We are staying some more days in Istanbul and would probably visit this Taverne again when we're nearby. Very recommended!

Looking like an old tavern more than a restaurant I might say that Ahtapot of Beşiktaş will take you to a different experience. Located in the center of the fishmarket it is easy to reach and found even if you don't know the surroundings. As it is rather old establishment everybody around will be kind enough to assist you with... More

I have visited Ahtapot in Beşiktaş two days ago. The place is not a restaurant but has the format of an old tavern. Right accross the fishmarket the tavern/restaurant is very conveniently located. The fish is very fresh and the meze (appetizers) are delicious. The music is old classical turkish music which enhances your conversation instead of blocking it. It... More

We went to Ahtapot several times. We enjoyed good food and good service all the time until our last visit. On that day, unfortunately, our evening ended almost in a fight. After having had very good food, the staff came to us to complain that they received too little tip. During our dinner we did not enjoy a satisfactory attendance... More

Staying in Besiktas

Neighborhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighborhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
