We stopped by here for a late breakfast one morning and it did not disappoint. The Ottoman style omelet was a particular stand out, causing us to come back a second time to try it out. Our waiter was very friendly--at the end of our meal, he asked if we had a few minutes to spare. He led us down... More

In my research of istanbul a lot of destination experts mentioned about this place..... And boy they were right !!! Very close to blue mosque and the staff was very helpful in suggesting what to order. Ambience is nice, waiters are well dressed and polite. but above all good is amazing. We ate their pitcher kabab..... And it was the... More

We ate twice at this restaurant during our stay in Istanbul last weekend. It is obvious that they take pride in providing good, freshly cooked traditional food. They don't hassle you to come in to their restaurant but once there, you know you've made a good choice. The waiters are friendly and helpful and the relaxed atmosphere is lovely. At... More

Have now had 2 trips to beautiful Sultanahmet. On both occasions have dined several times at the Albura. Was initially drawn in by the hassle free policy which was very refreshing. The menu is extensive and the food extremely tasty. The waiters are very attentive and great fun to chat to.Special thanks to Drej and Mehmet. Learned a new skill... More

We had a brief stop-over in Istanbul en route to Greece and wanted to have a special dinner in Istanbul. Within walking distance from our hotel we came across this restaurant, with exceptionally friendly and humourous staff. We initially had starters, walked the streets a bit more and then came back for dinner, no disappointment! Lovely Turkish cuisine with excellent... More

I've eaten at Albura many times and it is easily the best restaurant in Sutlanahmet. The dishes have delicate flavors that are nicely balanced. The offerings have a wide range - fish, lamb, vegetarian - and all them ate excellent. The staff are very professional and friendly. The kitchen is 1700 years old and if you ask nicely, they'll probably... More

This restaurant is brilliant. Just do it. Massive menu and all of it so delicious. Spread across three adjoining seating areas it has loads outdoor space and still intimate. As well as the food the staff are a riot. The best fun and humour we had all trip to Turkey. Point of difference is clear. It's a No Hassle Zone... More

Welcome to Albura Kathisma, a unique and beautiful Cafe & Restaurant located in the heart of historic Istanbul. In easy walking-distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace, our garden enters the mysterious Byzantine Palace that once stood here. Opened in 2005 in an old Ottoman family house where we are now, we offer cozy indoor and spacious outdoor seating, friendly and courteous service and, of course, delicious food, served all year round. Thanks to our success, Albura Kathisma has grown in recent years, but our passion stays the same: to provide our customers with the perfect experience of eating out in Istanbul. With a menu covering Turkish and International cuisine, we cater for a range of diets and tastes. Specialties include seafood and salads, traditional Turkish, delicious desserts, and vegetarian dishes. Our well-educated chefs and waiting personnel are happy to offer advice on your menu choices and personal amendments to dishes if requested. In 2012 we extended and updated our kitchen, also adding traditional elements: a large stone oven where we bake our own delicious fresh bread daily, and a charcoal grill to cook our selection of Turkish kebabs from different regions of the country -- a "gastronomic tour" for the kebab connoisseur! Open daily all-year round, including New Year, we are always happy to cater for groups, families with children, couples, individuals and celebration parties. We are honoured with all of the tripadvisor reviews you have written or are going to write. We read them all and are grateful to receive your comments, ratings and suggestions.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
