A selection of tasty meze plus meatballs, grilled calamares - and a glass of raki - made a brillant start. Four different kebaps and good Turkish wine did the rest. Perfect evening in one of Istanbul's better restaurants.

We were there on the last day of our Istanbul trip. We really loved the place, had Turkish pizza and Chicken kabab, both were delicious. Service was quick. Loved the location and the place.

We recently ate here while we were in Istanbul for a night. We walked around looking fro a place to have dinner around our hotel. Out of all the nearby places to eat (and theres a lot of them) I am happy we ended up here. This was by far the best lamb I have ever had! We got a... More

We stumbled on this restaurant by sheer accident - the waiter at the restaurant next door thought we were British when in fact we are Australians (both of us British by birth but didn't tell that!). When the waiter at Khorasani said 'Australian', we told him he'd won our business. In fact, we had won. The food was wonderful. We... More

I would highly recommend everything I ordered: Meza platter, Pistachio Kebabs, Chicken Kebabs. Loved my dinner so I came back for lunch before my flight out. I will be coming back to Istanbul for more.

this restaurant is located in an alley, so you may not notice it from the main road leading to Aya Sophia. had dinner here with a friend, and yes they served only quality meals. there are other cafes and restaurant along the alley, so you must clearly see the signage before you enter. a bit pricey.

This place was recommended by our tour guide Esin. She nailed this place on the head. The food and atmosphere were exceptional. The staff professional and courteous. We will return.

Description
"Ask most tourism representatives, restaurateurs, and waiters in Old Istanbul to recommend a restaurant, and most will offer Khorasani Kebab&Grill and Steak House. This restaurant has been a part of the Sultanahmet gastronomy scene for many years and is famed for its Turkish BBQ (the ocakbaşi), tender kebabs, and freshly prepared mezes. While the menu caters to a range of culinary interests, if you want a unique dining experience then ask to pick out your mezes and kebabs from the kitchen counter and have the chef cook your kebab over the BBQ's open fire inside the restaurant. Another popular dish from the coals of the BBQ is the Testi Kebab. As featured in New Zealand's World Kitchen TV show, this flavored meat and vegetable casserole is sealed in a clay pot, slowly cooked over the BBQ coals, and cracked open before the eyes of diners. Check out the video under "We in Press" on the Khorasani website for more information about the kebab from Central Anatolia. Khorasani also has a great wine menu and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Afar.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
