We queued to get into this place, which was recommended to us. It was worth the short wait! The Kofte were very succulent, we added some salad, fries and bread. Total was around 110TL or GBP 30 for 4 people - which was quite reasonable.

We had dinner here on a rainy day after our visit of the basilica cistern,as a family of 4. We had to wait for the waiter to take our order, although it was not overcrowded.... We had meatballs and beans salad, only one of us had a lentil soup and dessert. We paid 87.-, which I think was expensive for what... More

The environmental condition of the restaurant is like any turkish budget restaurant a like. Crowded beef smell and mostly hot. I've entered this restaurant in launch time. Weather was hot outside and the restaurant was cool enough and thats rare in Istanbul to find a cool temperature restaurant. The staff was kinda friendly but mostly rude. They dont serve ice... It seems this restaurant is very famous from the photos on the walls for people who dined in it. This is one of these restaurants that don't appeal to you from outside but it is very simple and amazing taste of Kofta. Again Just order the Kofta dish that comes with their special red semi hot sauce. The place is... More

The crowd at the beginning, is a bit annoying and it pushes you to think about "why we came here?" But after a bit of patience, when the koftes arrive with piyaz, you say it worths to wait. Even after the arrival of the order, you don't even see that crowd. The taste of kofte is very delicious. The service is... More

The best restaurants are sometimes the most unassuming ones - the ones without any frills and fancy decor. That certainly is the case with Sultanahmet Koftecisi. This bare bones restaurant is located in a beautiful old building within very close distance to Hagia Sofia, the Harem, the Basilica Cistern, the Blue Mosque and a number of attractions. It is clean... More

This was a recommendation by one of the tour guides on one of his personal favorite places to eat when in the Sultanahmet district. The place is always busy, and rightfully so, probably one of the best (if not the best) value meals I've had in my life. The owners kept it simple with a few items on the menu,... More

A small menu but they do everything well. Delicious kofte. It was very busy when we went and I've had a lot of Turkish food before and since - but this was pretty much as good as any, for the price. A good option if you're visiting the Haghia Sophia or Blue Mosque.

After a long walk in sultanahmet complex, having dinner here is a perfect. Becareful with the fake shop just next to it! You should find the one whoch written "from 1920" under the name of the restaurant. The dish is not complicated, can be eaten by any people from any ages except vegan, but i think they might have vegetarian... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
