We stumbled across this bakery while exploring Istambul and decided to try some of their specialities. They have an extensive menu with descriptions and photos so you could ask for details. We had fried pastry filled with goat cheese, accompanied by goat milk ice cream: simple the best! We also had the cheese pie, a delicate pastry that comes with tomato and cucumber as a side. What amazed us was the consistency of the ice cream that can be eaten with a fork. The shop is spotlessly clean and brightly illuminated. At the end of our meal, the manager came to us to ask if everything was OK and we had a little chat and he mentioned that they have many locations within the city and in other parts of Turkey. The service was extremely attentive and the prices are very reasonable.

Istanbul is a cluster of shops, stores, cafes, restaurants, hotels and apartment buildings. There are the regular local cafe/coffee shop places you can enjoy a good cup of Turkish tea or coffee and some the local snacks and treats. However the Mado resturants/cafes around the city of Istanbul just stand out from the other cafes and restaurants. The design of this restaurant is different from other places so it does catch your eye. It offers a little more stylishness in terms of the space, ambience, design and atmosphere. I have found the staff usually very friendly and helptful and a bit professional. The menu offers a good variety of meals and drinks. The food is generally well prepared and arrives in a short period of time and is quite delicious. Its an excellent place to enjoy some peace and quiet or to read or work on your computer etc. I highly recommend Mado restaurants/cafes to travelers and tourists and expats.

During our last visit to Istanbul we visited this branch of Mado located on the main Istiklal street two times. In the first time we had late night desert/coffee and in the second time we had a late breakfast. The food and dessert were tasty and of good quality. Prices are reasonable but unfortunately we felt that the service was slow as if they are understaffed.

We had a horrible experience at the Mado outlet in the airport. The staff wasn’t attentive at all, even though no one knew English we tried our best to explain using translate, but when they brought the wrong order they were unwilling to take it back. All the dishes were there but we had no plate or breads or anything and when we complained about it they just shook us off, and when we refused to pay because we hadn’t really eaten anything they called the airport security on us. Most Horrible experience we had in turkey.they are just using the brand name which is hospitable outside the airport to cheat customers

Mado on the Istiklal street with the rudest staff, we‘ve ever met in whole Turkey. Especially 2 of them. It is also not worth to visit anymore the Istiklal street. It can happen just within seconds that you are in the middle of a fight because of the rudeness of the people, at the exchange counter, taxi, Mado and really in every store. It’s like visiting a“refugee camp“. Especially the baklava Mado place, the cashiers slep you the money right into your face and the bought baklavas as well. Better save your energy and your nerves and avoid this place. Also the taxi drivers around the Taksim square are unbelievable, they refuse you giving a ride if they think it is a short range or even if they think it is not worse for them bcs it is not enough money to earn with a minimum input and a maximum output. It used to be a very nice place but not anymore. And we will never ever enter again a Mado chain in whole Turkey any more!!!

I've been visiting istanbul and eating at mado for like 10000 times and reviewed it as the best. This review is dedicated for the branch i went for in istiklal street and I don't know if it is this terrible at other branches. We ordered me and my 2 sisters lentil soup which was okay however we tried it before in other visits and it was better. Then we asked for tavuk and köfte which weren't available as told by the waiter who doesn't understand bare english. Then we ordered sucuklu yumurta and menemen. When plates arrived sucuklu yumurta had a very bad smell! For the menemen it was very bad. Same comments for the taste. It's not the first time i go to mado and eat! But this time was like a horror movie. We left everything as it is on the table, paid the check and left disappointed. I will make sure not to enter this place anymore. Service is slow, food is bad and smelly, and most of the things you order are not available... Delete it from the menu then! Unfortunately, as a frequent visitor and ex-lover to mado, me and my siblings were very disappointed.

The desserts were fresh and amazing! Baklava and Ice cream was great. Only problem is that the staff members took a while to come and serve us and we had to call them to take our order. One of our desserts also came very late and we were pretty much done.

The atmosphere is amazing , waiters are ok but they could get verry arogants if you ever adress anything wrong . I asked for baqlava with ice-cream among other things , but the baklava had hair all over , when i showed it to the waiter he acted indifferent but did change it , however the second piece i got had hair as well . When i adressed it to the person behind the sweet counter at the icecream section, he was really rude and unprofessional and his answer was " what do you want me to do for you ! Its windy outside and the hair is sticking to the baklava ! . After this answer and his attitude i just walked away . I asked after that for a tea but the tea tray that i got looked like it was used , the slice of lemon was half squeezed , the tea plate and the coaster flooded with tea , also the tea tray setup was not set as the cute tea tray set-up you receive normally at MADO (messed up and No flowers like other guests seated next to us !!! )Well i dont know if the service i got from Mado waiters was a result of my complain or was i supposed to eat the baklava with the hair on it to please them , but please just becareful of what you are eating especially in this branch !

Absolutely terrible service. Waiters ignore you, you have to go ask for manu yourself if you want to order, the waiter cleaned the table by smearing the cheese all over it. Baklava was ok, but the fruity special drinks undrinkable due to too much sugar.

Only ever been to a Mado for ice cream so can’t really comment on sitting in etc. The ice cream is nice I mean it’s not gelato but it’s decent enough, just wish they had a chocolate nutty flavour. The hazelnut is ok but needs to be a bit sweeter. Prices are ok but the service is confusing, staff are not really friendly but in all my time in Istanbul I can’t say they are a friendly bunch to begin with. I would visit again.

Mado is my go for choice everytime I'm in istanbul. It's the best cafe and restaurant you can find especially in istiklal street. when visiting, make sure you taste turkish baklava and kunefe with ice cream, and turkish şay for sure! Salty dishes are also amazing for turkish breakfast, lunch or dinner. Make sure you go to this cafe resto when in istanbul.

One of the best Turkish breakfasts in istanbul and Omer Farouk gave us the best service was attentive and assisted us with a nice smile. However, the Chef (bald guy) was extremely rude, mad yelling at us and the staff working talking in Turkish language and staring at us badly. He was talking in his language all the time laughing loudly pointing at us and smoking all the time! Requested to open a fan which was switched off 3 times!

Really very disappointed as I pursed allot of turkish delight and came home after two weeks as I was advised that turkish delight lasts for 3 months which incouraged me to purchase up to 13 boxes for freinds and family. 3 where from mado and the rest was another company. All of them to my delight had worms in them. I will never buy turkish delight again. So this is not to put people off. However don't buy excessive to bring home for gift because it does not last you will waste allot of money also check before you buy. I wasted allot money very gutted.

I went with my friends during the last day before heading to the airport. The egg + sujuk dish is DELICIOUS and mouth watering. We also ordered the shakshooka - not recommended (the proportion of tomatoes vs eggs has more tomatoes than eggs).

Something of a chain with locations on each side of the Bosporus, Mado has made a name for itself with warm hospitality surrounding a large selection of Baklava, Ice Cream, Coffee, Tea and Confections. Owned by franchisees, the middle of three shops on İstiklal street bustling on Sunday, it was with greetings from a pleasant server that four guests were seated and brought an assorted collection of sweets including Turkish Delight ranging from Apple to Rose, Pomegranate, Nougat and Pistachio. Utilizing Yaşar Patisserie and the same Ice House since 1965 it is alongside hot beverages that guests are implored to taste authentic Dondurma, in this case Pistachio with its distinctive sticky texture before delving into Baklava featuring Walnuts, Pistachios and even a diabetic-friendly version made from Purplemix Powder of natural Fruits and Vegetables.

Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
