We ate here on a Sunday evening on the recommendation of our hotel that was nearby. We were picked up by a taxi sent by the restaurant (at no charge to us). We had a table by the window that looked across the railroad to the Sea of Marmara, where we could see many large ships. When we inquired about... More

Doesn't look much from the outside but it is fine inside. There are probably good views in the summer or during the day but we went in winter. Seafood was fresh and nicely cooked. Complimentary starter was a nice touch. Wine a bit expensive, but tasty. Sevice was good Decor OK. Overall we enjoyed our evening

Highly recommend the octopus as a great meal. The calamari was also tasty. There is a limited selection of non seafood available as well for non seafood eaters.

I love seafood and thought that I would be able to eat some good seafood. With such an extensive menu, it was disappointing that my first two selections were not available. They tried to accommodate a gluten free dinner. For the price and the limited selection, this restaurant was a little disappointing.

With its view of the harbor this small restaurant is nothing but a pearl in the city. Highly recommend the grilled eggplant as an appetizer.

We stayed at Aren Suites, just a block or two away and our host recommended Mostra for dinner our first night in Istanbul. I love seafood, my husband does not, but we had no trouble finding delicious meal choices on the menu. Don't shy away from this restaurant because of the exterior, which looks a little ho-hum, the restaurant boasts... More

For Istanbul, this restaurant is relatively expensive. But the food is of a very high standard. I devoured the complementary creamy Salmon Roe starter with bread. I had a very delicious spicy fish "stew" (is the best way I can describe it) which came with both rice and a melt in the mouth cheesy, buttery jacket potato. This restaurant is... More

Quiet, spacious, nice location with sea views. Excellent fresh fish and seafood (grilled octopus is delicious), reasonably priced. Good selection of local wines. Friendly staff. We found it by chance and went to dine there two nights in a row. Great choice for a pleasant evening.

Our first priority after a long day travelling was to find a quiet comfortable restaurant, with an easy to read menu, good choice of food and unobtrusive service- Mostra balik provided all of that, with the bonus of good food and reasonable prices. We were the only customers, so it lacked atmosphere. We'd go back on a first night or... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
