2 weeks into our Isan trip, a little bored of Thai food and not big fans of Laotian food, we decided to try this top-rated restaurant in Vientiane to understand why a pizza place had such a high rating. The simple answer? Their pizza is delicious! They have a full menu of standard pizzas and pastas and we decided to create our own and top it off with a Lao Beer. The pizza was delicious and we could tell that the ingredients were fresh. The tomato sauce in the pizza was a simple tomato sauce made with real tomatoes and few spices such as we had eaten in Italy (with no extra spices and tastes as you would see in commercial sauces). It was delicious. Finally, we presumed that the restaurant is run by an Italian as there was a chef who definitely looked Italian ordering the staff around and catering to some of the restaurant’s patrons. That would explain the authentic taste of Italian pizza all at an affordable price. Recommended.

Piazza da Roby was just a few hundred feet from our hotel and after reading the positive Trip Advisor reviews ,we decided to give it a try and quite simply loved the place. Although the pizzas looked delicious, we shared a couple of ravioli dishes and the Greek salad. All dishes were outstanding. The staff was very friendly, efficient, and attentive and the house red wine was quite good and inexpensive. In fact, the entire meal was very inexpensive. We liked this place so much that we planned to dine there again but they were closed the second night we attempted to eat there. Highly recommended. One of the best meals we had in Vientiane.

Had a simple margarita pizza and it was delicious- we watched it being made. However, I have to say the highlight were the best fries in Laos! Hand cut, seasoned and fried, completely from scratch while we waited. If you are craving fries, get them here.

Where to start..... Saturday night, 7pm. Waitress was super friendly. And then everything went downhill. Honestly I don’t know how the food is because I never got that far. We asked for a seat upstairs, nice place, rustic, ambiance was good. I ordered a BeerLoa, always a standard choice, wife ordered a mojito. Then for food we ordered a pizza and pasta, we had asked if the arrabiata could have added chicken to it, we were told no (unsure why it is so difficult to add chicken to a pasta when chicken is on the menu?!) Wife ordered a different pizza instead, also told some ingredients not available, we ordered around it. While waiting for pizza’s, waitress came back a third time to advise there is no mint for mojito, we said that’s fine and understandable, so my wife ordered a tanquery and tonic. Waitress came back a forth time and said no tanquery. We were on the edge now but still said ok, and my wife ordered the Bombay Saphire and tonic. Waitress came back a 5th time, no gin. Now honestly, I don’t blame the waitress and she looked very embarrassed, but what kind of management runs this place? We left without eating or drinking anything. Try your own luck if you want, but I’d recommend stay away...

Just what we needed after a stressful day, the home comfort of a delicious pizza in a chilled, relaxing setting. Freshly made with delicious fluffy dough, good amount of filling (we went for a calzone) and beautifully cooked. They also had a nice diced garlic oil and a chilli oil to give the pizza some kick. Only critique would be it definitely needed more seasoning, particularly salt but that's easily remedied.

This is small, bright and clean restaurant. Early one afternoon I ordered 2 take-away pizzas and while waiting the owner(?) stood-up and berated some of the employees by shouting and gesturing wildly. This is a small area and had I stood-up I could have been hit by his flailing hands as I was sitting/waiting one table away waiting and I was very uncomfortable! The waitstaff could not have been more pleasant and attentive (despite the outburst). The fragrance from the kitchen were mouthwatering and yet when I got home I was completely and utterly unimpressed with the pizza. Both were a bit overdone and the cheese was hard and not soft and gooey. The 4 cheese pizza only had flavour/taste where a dollop of the sharpest cheese was placed. Otherwise it had no taste and was dry. The margarita pizza too was dry and had absolutely no flavour. At home I chopped garlic and chilies and added extra tomatoes to add flavour and rectify dryness. Too bad as the reviews are good and I was disappointed. I fully expect the reply to this review to be ugly given the owners embarrassing outburst in front of customers. I do NOT recommend the 4 cheese or margarita pizza.

The pizza are usually very fresh and you could really appreciate the aroma of the dough. Pretty much never a wrong choice regardless of the topping you go for. Their 1/8th pizza slice is not to be underestimated, in terms of size. You have been warned.

If you are in Vientiane this place does great pizza, it is expensive for the area, but worth it. We were greated by the owner he is italian, very friendly and the menu was great. We had a pizza each, starter, 2 x beers and tiramisu and they were all delicious! The bill came to £20 in total, but a really nice evening. Hopefully we can come back again soon! The pizzas were great!

Admittedly it looks like any casual restaurant, but the pizza is great! Really authentic and delicious…95,000 Kip choose your 4 toppings (2 can be meat.) If you listen carefully, you can hear Roby in the kitchen chattering away in Italian. So sad we went when we weren’t starving. We only had the pizza and a very rich lasagna. We didn’t get to sample the charcuterie boards, but they looked amazing walking by us. Beer, wine, soft drinks. Heard various tables paying in Kip, $ and bhat. Not sure that’s typical, or even preferred, but it made it easy for a lot of customers that night. There's also upstairs seating. We get pizza all around the world and this ranks highly. I don’t say that lightly. Definitely worth it. Why are you still reading? Go already!

just walked away from the restaurant after the owner was extremely rude. Will not recommended going anyway near this place. There are a lot of great pizza restaurants at Vientiane, no reason to go to a place which treats you BAD!

We tried to eat here one evening, but couldn't get a table; so booked for a few days later. It was difficult to choose a pizza, there were so many great toppings to choose from. Eventually we picked one, and had a salmon salad as well. Along with a few cocktails.. The quantities of the salad and pizza were very generous; and both dishes were very tasty. The cocktails could have done with a bit more alcohol, and less ice.. but still ok Great service too, with very friendly and helpful staff all around Definitely worth another visit to try our some other pizzas

One of the best pizzas I've had in SE Asia, and the ravioli was pretty good as well. Friendly, attentive staff. The owner is Italian and based on a conversation I overheard with another group of customers, it appears he's quite passionate about Italian food.

A very unassuming restaurant which was easy to find with google maps. Don’t be fooled by the casual decor as you will be disappointed if you walk on by. Excellent service and amazing food. We ordered a pizza and pasta to share for 2 of us and we’re amazed at how authentic and delicious it was. My partner is Italian and an excellent home cook so he’s very fussy with his pizza and pasta. Do yourself a favour and put PDR on top of your list of places to eat in Vientiane.

The pizza and pasta were both delicious! My son said it was the best pizza he’s had. Italian pizza chef who didn’t stop all night. As a vegan, I usually go without cheese but they had vegan mozzarella...awesome!!

After experiencing some fairly average local food we decided to go for pizza and we’re not disappointed. One of the best pizzas we’ve had anywhere in the world let alone SE Asia. Food and service was excellent!
