Nice quiet Lao restaurant a few steps off of the main road. Looks like an old home restored and decorated nicely, with a large outdoor patio if the weather cooperates. Good menu, particular for single travelers as they have an offering of several combination meals that will let you try several things.

I have to say I loved the food. It might be a bit expensive but worth the kip we paid. We ordered the curry spring rolls, the pork 'or laam', and a fried fish dish which I forgot the name but had the most unforgettable sauce. I might be overselling it a little but I really did thoroughly enjoyed every... More

Great food and good atmosphere. The prices are reasonable. My friends and I were happy with those foods.

We booked a table outside in the courtyard and had a really nice meal. The starters were really good. We had the lemongrass chicken and some spring rolls both were really nice. We had a local curry as a main course which was also good although I prefer the Thai curries. Service was also good and the place seemed to... More

We visited Amphone on the recommendation of the front desk at Green Park. We were one of two tables inside on a steaming evening on a Saturday night. We ordered a couple of appetiser dishes-as described on the menu - and two main courses, with steamed veg and rice. The main courses arrived first. We asked for them to be... More

Been to this restaurant on visits to Vientiane. Consistently very good local cuisine. But their lemongrass chicken starter is so good it gets ordered every time. Similarly their spring rolls are excellently done beautifully crisp and dry outer with the ne'er moist filling.

Located in the center of the city. Authentic food. Special river sesame "seaweed", nice lemongrass shrimp paste grill and steam fish. But took long for the food to be served even though the restaurant was partially occupied on weekday..

Went to Amphone for the first time the other night after hearing about it for years from friends. The food was cooked perfect, great selection, good service and all around had a lovely evening. It was a pity it was not more crowded. Being slightly tucked back off the main road by Joma, across the alley from Jazzy Brick might... More
