Expensive and i would have preferred to stick with local cuisine, except i wanted to experience french cuisine in a former french colony with many expats still remaining. Its almost always better to eat local food whilst travelling, so i would say stick with local food near the night market or lao kitchen unless u are really desperate and nostalgic... More

Living in Vientiane, I have been going to L'Addresse from time to time for a couple of years now, after my spouse was introduced to it by friends. I was surprised at the couple of negative reviews when I happened to check out this site today, I was looking for the opening time. We go there every month or two,... More

went to this restaurant as it looked really cute and I fancied french food. They had a menu for dinner but decided to go for a la carte instead, I had a free cold tomato soup (gaspacho) and it was absolutely delicious...unfortunately it went downhill from there. My starter was ok (tuna was a bit dry), nothing fantastic, my main... More

Heard a lot about this place. Expectations were high. Ordered the dinner set for 3 and a carafe of house red. Seems a little half hearted. Can't blame them I guess. Next time ala carte. Had a much better meal at Ansara

Haches Parmentier (aka cottage pie) utterly exceptional and visited more than half a dozen times on the last Vientiane excursion. Owner and Chef are keen, know the sources of quality ingredients hereabouts, and the results speak for themselves. Try it

My cassoulet was very ordinary. The beans were starchy and the confit overdone so it was mushy. The cauliflower soup is good and the seafood salad not bad bearing in mind we are far from the sea. Not worth the return visit!

Where to start? I have never 'eaten' in such an awful restaurant. We ordered a steak and a rack of lamb. After an hour and much complaining the food arrived, cold, congealed, the meat looked as though it had been boiled not cooked on a grill, it was not browned in any way, and the very very fatty lamb chops... I am on a 29 day tour of Asia. Asian food is good but I am a sucker for French cuisine and there are French restaurants in my home town in California but the ingredients are not good so the food has no flavor. When I read about the French food in Laos and especially in Vientiane- I was hooked.... More

Delicious food, beautiful presentation. Felt transported to a nouveau French experience in heart of Vientiane. Duck, cassoulet, salmon were presented as beautifully as they tasted. Great find for very upscale elegant dining
