We went on new year's eve, and had the best Italian meal and the finest gelato I have ever eaten. The owner is lovely, the staff are friendly, and it was a great way to end 2015. Highly recommended, a real not-to-be-missed meal in Vientiene.

LÓpera has been a feature of the Vientiane dining scene for a very long time and provides a wide menu across all of the classic Italian cuisine. The pizzas are delicious and meals are served with herbed pizza biscuits to nibble on before to order arrives. great pasta, antipasto and steaks. The dessert selection is a real challenge because each... More

We lived in Vientiane for 9 years and quickly found L'Opera. We remained loyal customers for the whole 9 years and were never disappointed. Many thanks for the good food and wine and the fantastic "special" dinners.

Not cheap but good pasta and pizza with efficient service. A bit of a posh place that is fine if someone else is paying

The air conditioning was perfect, but I chose to sit on the small terrace so that I could hear the live, but not too loud, music from the square and watch the fountain's colourful display. Despite getting my order for the first course wrong (I did not say anything as it looked interesting and was in fact delicious, but twice... More

There's a reason why some restaurants are totally empty during openinghours. 1st. Their service is crap, 2nd.Their food is crap, 3rd. The owner is also crap. So is this restaurant!! Lesson to myself: Never try the food in an empty restaurant in a country where you're on holiday... Unless you know the staff/owner there ;)

On a recommendation we booked to dine at this restaurant. What a disaster !!!!!! The restaurant was empty except for totally disinterested staff standing around and talking amongst themselves. The decor is well at home in the 1970s and in desperate need of a complete make-over. The food poor and after one course we hurriedly left. A great disappointment :... More

We were looking for a change in dining after two weeks on a tour and L'Opera was recommended. We went at about 7:00 PM with reservations, but the place was empty. Got a nice table and ordered some starters from a somewhat unfriendly wait person. Turned out the kitchen was out of one of the ingredients, and the owner, who... More

Two of our party of five ordered the lasagna, which we would not recommend -- the lasagna noodles were gummy. Three others had the Marsala-sauced ravioli, which was superb. Good downtown location. Good wine list.
