I've just come to work in Phnom Penh, and for the first time in my life I've come to eat at a restaurant owned by Thalias today. I haven't had such an authentic French meal in a long time. Today, eating this meal, I deeply experienced the point that "French meals are not necessarily large but eat ambience." Surprisingly, in addition to the entrees, mains, desserts written on the menu, there were some surprises that weren't written on the menu.
The first to come up was this oily stone with cold butter inside. The bread is crisp and delicious without buttering, so make sure you break it on your plate before the crumbs are everywhere. Remember to be patient when serving the entree, and what feeds you is at the back. Half Omakase？ Maybe. It feels like each dish is exquisite and discreet (like coastal China?). The flavours were mixed just right - I don't usually eat sour cucumbers, but the dish was good enough to make an exception and taste good enough to not disappoint me. Be careful, the price here is pre-tax, and the real price is multiplied by 117 percent. (Eventually a full Business Lunch costs $38.84.) But expensive is the only downside, and eating up a day's wages here is worth it.

Loved this experience, the vibe kind of make me think of some traditional restaurants I visited in Paris, they way the waiters are dressed etc. We loved all about the food, and the service staff was obviously very, very well trained.
We are sad we went for lunch and would have preferred swapping another deceptive diner for this one.

Good food and service although quite pricey for Phnom Penn . Also quite far from some of the major hotels but you can get cheap tuc tuc and driver will wait whilst outside you dine. Only problem was restaurant lacked atmosphere as it was quite empty.

The food was excellent but unfortunately the service was very poor. I didn't get offered a drink menu or asked if there was anything I would like to drink when I came in. Also, when I asked for the wine menu the waiter acknowledged me but didn't bring it. Generally, the staff, although friendly, were quite inattentive, not sure why as there were only four people eating there when I was there. It isn't at all cheap eating thus it is not really worth it all things considered

We enjoyed an excellent lunch in Topaz last week and were impressed by the quality of the food, presentation and service.
The experience was as good as some of our favourite French fine dining restaurants in London and Paris. In fact we felt transported to France for a few hours :)
We were looked after very well by Mrs Sao La who with the rest of the Topaz team delivered impeccable attentive service.
The quality of the food was the best we have tasted in Phnom Penh over the last three and half months.
Thank you Topaz team for a memorable experience.

The food was fractionally above average, but if you are charging 5* prices you need to deliver a 5* product, and regrettably you did not! No management presence, decorations and attention to detail was poor, food was ok at best, service was below expectation, clearly a lack of traing and product knowledge, but the staff tried hard & did their best. If value for money is a gauge of the overall experience I would rate Topaz one star. Not only are the prices per dish world class, it is shockingly topped off with a combined 17% tax. I've now visited there 2 times, my first and last.

The garden and restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere also very nice. However the food is nothing special, average french cuisine with European prices. The wine list also very limited and the house wine not recommended .

Everything was perfect ; the atmosphere, the food, I love when I see the plates before receiving it.

Some of the best food available in the city. Fab beef Carpaccio to start. Stuck with beef for a main too! Filet Mignon just perfect with a roquefort sauce. Partner had caviar to start and lamb main. All presented very well.
Good wine choice by our hosts to accompany the evening.
Timing on serving everyone a bit uncoordinated with courses, but a minor issue.
Would happily return again and make it a regular haunt. I don't think theres many places much better to be honest. Rosewood tomorrow night so we'll see.

The prahok set menu is authentic khmer ingredients and tastes very good. This is the first menu ever established in Cambodia which mixed Khmer prahok with French cuisine.

Very challenging to provide a review after visiting Topaz as the location is great, food and service is as well; however the price is not reasonable :-)
