We arrived at the restaurant around 8:30pm, the place was busy (table of 8+) and this set the scene. We were greeted by a friendly team, sat down and then waited for about 20 mins before having a drink. The cutlery was brought to the table, clumped together and sat on top of itself to the right of each plate; come on team, where are your standards??
Food ordered - some plain poppadoms, 2 starters and 4 mains. Poppadoms came out Spicy, (no big deal) but we asked where the plain ones were and they replied “these are, we have even spicier ones” so be careful if you don’t like heat!?
I received my starter in a timely fashion and it was lovely, the other starter came with (5) mains, the team weren’t quite sure on which ones they were however!!?? After much confusion I asked our waiter why the lack in standards etc and he said “we are very busy” my response was slow it down, don’t panic because you have a large group in, you should be able to handle such volumes, queue tumbleweed!
Anyway, moving on! The dishes were fantastic, great depth of flavours, decent sized portions and we all agreed it was a top draw curry, 5/5 for sure however the service really let itself down on the day 3/5 so my overall score can’t be excellent but it’s a strong “very good”!!
Top tip- visit on a weekday or check they have no large group bookings and remember those poppadoms!!

很棒的餐廳,推薦來吃,味道很道地!環境舒服又衛生,適合各種聚會或情侶來用餐,餐點價格也公道,推薦推薦
The seafood and lamb curry are the most we recommended.Worth a try for sure!
However we felt a bit often when one of the staffs ask us to give good comments to the restaurant. we do really think the food and service are good so please don't force people to do commenting.

Absolutely fantastic food for incredibly cheap prices. I tried a new dish I have never had before and the flavours were outstanding, aromatic and perfectly tasty. The waiting staff were very attentive to all their customers needs and consistently refilled table water. I found that the meal was very cheap in comparison to the amount of food we enjoyed and would highly recommend a visit.

My wife and I have tried most Indian restaurants in Phnom Penh. We found the flavour to be bland, not authentic Indian spices and the dishes were very dry. The naan bread was a very small serving and at $4 was expensive compared to other restaurants in Phnom Penh. The music was quite loud and the songs were English songs not Indian music so there was no atmosphere. We would not return to this restaurant ourselves. Staff were very friendly and the hospitality was great. The restaurant and their facilities were very clean

We didn’t have the best of meals here which was a real shame after reading so many good reviews.
They were busy, although there aren’t that many tables, the waiter brought me the wrong wine and before I could say anything he had disappeared.
We ordered papadums and on the menu it said it came with dips which never arrived, when we asked the waiter brought some out which looked like they had been used 6 or 7 times already.
The curries were quite bland and not hot.
We asked for more drinks and instead of asking us what we want he just came back with 1 random beer and left me with an empty glass of wine.
The only thing that was quick was them bringing the bill and taking payment.
The cheese and garlic naan was so so good and the staff were really nice, they did apologise but it just wasn’t good unfortunately.

I just ordered this for dinner off of NHAM24 and both curries they sent were made with spoiled dairy, Absolutely revolting!!! The fact that anyone would serve this food shows negligence, lack of passion and very poor hygiene standards. I understand that it’s a tough climate for restaurant at the moment but there is no excuse for this. Not sure how this place is so well reviewed?

10 of us from India ordered food in the morning on 11/1/2020 for dinner so that we can finish in time. We reached at 7:30 pm as advised. Starters were served in time but the main course arrived after 45-60 minutes. The staff attended the smaller groups who came after us.
Food was ok but not according to the reviews of trip advisor. The firni served in the desert was stale & sour in taste which we didn’t eat. The staff was not attentive & service was extremely poor.
Overall bad experience

We ordered the British favourite Chicken Tikka Masala. In the UK at least, this is a medium dish in terms of spiciness and although recipes vary a little, the standard is that it's a creamy, coconut medium spiced dish. The one we ordered was more like a vindaloo - I've never had a vindaloo but it's what I expect it to taste like. Incredibly, incredibly spicy, very hot to the point where I just couldn't eat it. Perhaps this is what passes as a Chicken Tikka Masala in Cambodia but I won't be ordering it again. If you believe that food should never be painful, beware of this dish.

The food is very tasty. Service is attentive. Not used to paying for masala chai by the cup- Ive always experienced refills. The tandoori chicken was the highlight and a specialty basmati rice were the best I have had. Veggie samosas are mouth watering. Would love to get my hands on the green sauce recipe- we had two cups it was so delightful!

With so many excellent reviews we were excited to eat here. We left with mixed emotions.
Winners: Samosa papdi!!! Absolutely delicious with a tasty sauce on top. A deconstructed samosa that was sublime.
The Garlic cheese naan was fluffy, warm, cheesy, garlicky, and just great.
Not so great: Chicken Madras - claims to be spicy (nope), I specifically asked the waiter to have them make it super duper spicy. I normally go for the vindaloo but I wanted to try something different. The flavor was fine, nothing all that interesting but I was quite annoyed that instead of being even the slightest bit spicy it was more sweet. Using the naan to eat the leftover sauce was a saving grace.
Chicken Lababdar - another sweet offering that lacked the distinct flavors of Indian cuisine. Overall it was disappointing.
The chicken seemed to be of low quality and seemed to be boiled, chopped, and thrown into a sauce.
Gulab Jamun - I love this dessert normally and their version was just a syrupy and bland mess.
The other desserts name escapes me, but it was sort of a rice milk with almond and rose water flavors. Sadly, we both thought it tasted like lotion.
The music started off with modern Indian songs which I liked but either their sound system has issues or the CD's they are using have scratches because there were a lot of skips and stalls that were noticeable. They then switched to generic pop rock stuff that really annoyed me. I cannot stand ethnic restaurants that don't play their own music.

Very nice Indian restaurant, everything was tasty and fresh. Careful on the spicy level when choosing the dishes cause even the lamb tandoori was very hot. Only annoying thing was the music that was definitely too loud, but apart from everything else was perfect.

Food was really good, really liked it. It was also super quick, within 10 minutes of ordering and they gave us a free starter. Really made me feel like i’m back in India.

Deservedly at the top of the pile in Phnom Penh, from the first moment of walking in you can tell its not your average "curryhouse". Slickly presented menu to extensive specials list to finely crafted mocktails this restaurant exudes class. We ordered a variety of dishes but special mention to their cheesey garlic nan as well as their paneer which is probably the best I have had in thirty years of eating indian food. Highly recommended!

My father and I arrived at 7pm having booked a table the previous day. We were seated after some confusion about the reservation at a table with a French couple ~ not a big deal, the restaurant was very busy, which wasn’t at all surprising considering the amount of really positive reviews and so sharing a table didn’t bother us.
We placed our order and to the credit of the restaurant our food was served quite promptly. However, we were served a starter which we had not ordered (as we ordered a platter I initially believed this was a part of it) we later discovered (after eating a little) that this was actually meant for the couple sitting slightly to our right. Not the end of the world but a slightly awkward moment nonetheless. The waiter was very polite and told us we would not be charged for the dish. That is one thing I will say, the service was great and the waiters were all very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, when our food arrived, the quality was poor. It was no reflection of the reviews on this website. The curries were bland and the starters were tasteless. The presentation was great, but that’s about all I can really say.
I don’t ordinarily write reviews for restaurants. However, at the time of writing, Namaste is #5 in all restaurants in Phnom Penh and I find that absolutely baffling. It also doesn’t seem fair when there are many other restaurants that are much, much better (and cheaper too!)
Additionally, we had some stomach problems the next day which wasn’t very fun during our 6 hour bus journey to Sihanoukville.

Having grown up in Mombasa, and attending an Indian school, I absolutely love Indian food and need to eat it at least once a week. Since coming to Phnom Penh, I have probably been to 10 different Indian restaurants, with varied results. I have basically ruled out all Indian restaurants on the Riverside as the food is mediocre at best. A restaurant that has consistently come up as having good food is Namaste, so I finally trekked there a couple of times this month.
The restaurant looks almost elegant and is a far cry from the Riverside establishments with their pictures of Taj Mahal on the walls and Bollywood music on TV. They should look after their menus a little better though; both times I was given a menu that was falling apart. Also got served by the same waiter on both occasions. Whilst he is fast and efficient, he is not exactly the smiley type. Small niggles…
The menu is quite large and varied, with many dishes that other Indian restaurants do not have. Starters are from $3.20 to $14.80 (the Tandoori Premium Platter), curries run from $5.20 to $10.80, and breads are around the $3.00 mark. Similar priced to other Indian restaurants, but decidedly better quality.
During my two visits, I had Gosht Sikkampuri ($7.80), Dal Tarka ($5.00), Lamb Bhuna Gosht ($9.80), Mutton Kofta Curry ($9.80), Jeera rice ($2.80), Garlic Naan ($2.80), and Roti ($1.80). This was washed down with Banana Lassi ($3.80) and lime juice ($2.80). All prices are inclusive of tax.
The curries were all excellent. Whilst I was not asked how spicy I wanted the food; the curries came out just right with well-balanced spices and tender meat. The lamb Bhuna Gosht in particular was outstanding. The meat is cooked with green papaya and yogurt and was an absolute delight. I particular liked the Gosht Sikkampuri, something I do not think I have eaten before. Basically, minced mutton balls stuffed with “hung” yoghurt. Unusual, but finger-licking good. The dal curry was also very good, as were the breads. The garlic Naan was one of the best I have had in Phnom Penh and the banana lassi was also right up there.
I dare say that, along with Flavors of India, this is the best Indian restaurant I have found in the city so far. I have no hesitation to recommend Namaste and I will certainly be back. Now, if only the waiter smiled once in a while…..
