Another good place has closed. For several years, I've regularly been to this place. Then, a few months ago, Chinese took over the business. And now it's closed. For rent... Again an example of "evolution" in the city.

Go to place for breakfast and french food. Have great frozen take away too. Great pastries. But seems to have change ownership and less choices now. Brand seems to have changed too.

I've been a long time regular customer of Comme a la Maison for years before leaving the country for 2 yrs - recently returned and this was my first meal from Comme a la maison since returning. I have to say I was disappointed on...a number of levels. I used to order food from here almost weekly and receive a discount. This time I rang all 3 numbers repeatedly over 1/2 hr last Saturday night and not once could I get through to anyone! So I went through Meal Temple which made it ridiculously expensive. Then the meal wasn't that great. Lamb chops are expensive - they were ok but a bit light on. This restaurant used to have fantastic mashed potato - this time it was really oily and not great at all. I would have liked to give this feedback over the phone but seem unable to get through to Comme a la Maison. I hope this is just a one off 'not so good meal' as I used to love this restaurant.More

My wife and had been going to Camme a la Maison since we arrived in Phnom Penh in 2002. Seventeen years of high quality food. Now under new management. If the change of name is for contractual reasons, then so be it. I get that...Calm is the initials of the original restaurant, but the O' confuses me. It's not an Irish place. Surely rebranding to just Comme, or maybe La Maison would have made more sense. The menu and weekly specials format do not seem to have changed much. The only changes are on the plus side, as the specials are a set price per course, and combining them gets you a discount. My specials menu pork sausages with green lentil stew last night was $9.00, but as I ordered a specials menu dessert, mango sorbet with tulip and raspberry sauce, the dessert came for just 90 cents instead of $3.50. Also from 6-8 pm, drinks are 2 for 1, so we had 2 glasses of wine each instead of our usual single. Therefore, if you come at the right time and order the right things, you will save money (or maybe just drink too much.) The food itself: to be honest, I don't think my main was actually worth $9.00. As the sausage was already sliced, it was difficult to tell how much there was, but it didn't seem like 2 sausages. Maybe 1 and a half. The lentil stew was average; it should have been much more garlic-y. My wife ordered fish (barracuda, I'm not sure) with coleslaw. It was not coleslaw that came with it though, it was salad. Hmm! The dessert, which we shared, was delicious, and certainly worth the 90 cents we paid for it, but I would have baulked at paying its menu price of $3.50, even though I know raspberries are very expensive here, and the sauce did appear to have been made with whole raspberries. Service was actually better than it used to be, so well done for that. It used to be that asking for the bill involved at least 10 minutes; last night it took less than 5.More

I was hungry but tired of junk food, so tried this restaurant since I was attracted by pictures I saw here in Tripadvisor. Well, I had a great lunch! My choise was antipasto, greek salad and tiramisù, everything was so good! all great except for...a mosquito that bored me for the whole lunch, but that's normal here in PP.More

Exactly as the title says - French staples. They are cooked as they should be. Nice surroundings and decor. Friendly staff, good service. Parking can be awkward. Good room for events upstairs. They provide frozen food to take away of exactly the same quality. Good...wine list, cheese and charcuterie.More

I had the ravioli with a watery ketchup sauce that was quite disappointing considering how many pizzas I have ordered from there. In particular the green olive and prosciutto (sometimes they skimp and use deli ham) pizza called the Parma is usually good. So, stay...away from the red sauces...just tomato, water and sugar the day I was thereMore

Our visit to Comme a la Maison was a bit odd. At first we were the only people eating but a table of 5 also turned up. We ordered assorted bruschetta to start and were impressed. Service very slow considering only two tables (7 people).We...had ordered tagliatelle with goats cheese and pesto. But after we had eaten our starter the waiter came over and said they had no pesto, was that okay? What could we say? We'd been waiting ages for something to eat. We convinced ourselves that the chef would find an alternative, they wouldn't serve just pasta and goats cheese would they?Well Yes, they did! It was okay but as you'd expect, a bit dry! My sorbets, lime and coconut were lovely and so was the cheescake with "strawberry coulis" read jam. But why wouldn't we go there again? When we asked if they took a credit card the waiter lost his temper said no and went out of his way to give us as many small rule notes in our change as he could! Why didn't he just politely say no? No offer of a reduction in price due to the lack of pesto either. Forget it, we won't be back.More

Our latest visit saw me order off the special board, this time pork sauteed with plums and red wine served with pumpkin mash. It was delicious. I almost ordered another plate of it when I finished, but was persuaded by the megingue glacée (meringue, vanilla...ice cream, chantilly cream and dark chocolate sauce) to have a go at the dessert menu as well. It was a good choice; I left very happy. My wife also enjoyed her paysanne salad. Service, as always, was good, and prices are much less than some places would charge for similar (but probably inferior) fare.More
