I was there as a wedding guest for a good friend so I was able to see beyond what most guests did.
The place is beautiful, with the hall and the moat around it a stunning background. There were many areas to discover and I...wished I had time to walk around.
The band was good but the technical team behind it was not very good. I am not sure if they were part of the venue but they were a struggle to work with.
The food was good but I have had better, to be honest. The khorovats, which were supposed to be the highlight of the event, were somewhat dry, but then that is not unusual when cooking for large groups of people. The best dish for me was the grilled sterlet... it stayed moist and flavorful...but it was sent out so late and most guests were already full.
Service was a bit lacking, which was a surprise for me because I usually had good service in Armenia. For example, some of us in the table did not have glasses and it took me, in particular, 3 tries for the waiters to understand that I was not able to get a single drink being served because I did not have glasses. The drinks situation as confusing because the waiters served only half the table starting around the main course.
Hopefully I can give this beautiful venue another try but as a diner and not an event guest.More
