I would give five starts for the food but the service is AWFUL. Sooooooo slow. Literally wait 15 minutes for order food, and then forever for the check, although the food does arrive quickly once ordered. Also terrible customer service to arrive in the garden...and then wait to be noticed. Apparently you’re supposed to flag a passing waiter. Very unprofessional. But a handsome, tall young waiter served me and was great :) Anyway onto the GREAT food. The menu is huge and offers Armenian food unlike I’ve seen elsewhere. More than just dolma and ishkan (trout). Absolutely wonderful veg options, and big portion sizes. For the first time, there was no space in the garden (I had not made a rez) so o sat inside. I ordered the basturma salad (not realising basturma is meat!) but I loved the beet greens, sheep cheese and walnut mixture. Very fresh and moreish. I also got the eggplant rolls which were smaller than I expected but then again, food for appetiser size. The combo with strained yogurt was delicious. Finally I had the aveluk (mountain sorrel soup). Also very tasty. Tonight, I had the Armenian cheese platter and the kelegyosh (lentils/onions/matzoon (yogurt)/lavash). Utterly tasty on both sides and enough cheese to take half back to the hotel for takeaway. Plus 2 glasses of the wonderfully dry Zulal, recommended by the waiter. The garden is gorgeous and a huge draw obviously. Despite my service grumbling, I still might return here in the next 6 days I’m in Yerevan.More

This place was packed when we arrived, but staff managed to find us a table anyway. There's plenty of choice for food, though service seemed a bit overwhelmed by the amount of people to serve. Prices were very reasonable and the food was tasty -...also the scenery outside offered a great change of pace. Strangely enough, the bathrooms seemed to not have any lights. There's wifi but either we were given the wrong password (or it was unavailable at the time). Also, you can enter this place through a crafts / artisan shop, so it's easy to pass by if you don't pay attention. Recommended!More

ABOVYAN 12- Restaurant DALAN with the entrance through the Dalan Art Gallery is a nice and well known restaurant on the Abovyan street 12 in the center (very close to the end of the Northern Avenue) and we were surprised by the old, traditional and...genuine decoration of this restaurant, while we have realized that they also have a bar and tables in the open air backyard, which is like a best kept secret in the garden with pergola (with also an extension of the souvenir shop). We have ordered for dinner only specialties of Armenian cuisine [e.g. Lamb Khasarma (lamb stew with vegetables), salad and Basturma], we have ordered good wine (e.g. Voskevaz, red dry wine) and we have found everything on the table very delicious and tasteful, while the service was also very good and the prices normal (mid-range) for such a good restaurant. We have enjoyed very much our dinner at the Abovyan 12- Restaurant Dalan in Yerevan (but you should pay attention to go through the souvenir shop in Abovyan 12 (Dalan Art Galery), otherwise it’s hard to find it) and would visit it again if the opportunity arises.More

Terrible offered choices. The food were average though the pork ribs was beyond good. The waiters were unfriendly. We asked one waiter for a plate and didn’t seem to bother until we asked him again which took him some minutes. His reply was “one moment”...with a condescending tone. Horrible service.More

Awesomest place! Found out just suddenly, while was shopping in the souvenir shop through which you get to this open-air cafe. The place is cozy and quite, you sit under a grape tree surrounded by local pieces of art. The food is also purely local...and tasty. Noticed that the personnel speaks Russian and English, which is a plus if you don't speak Armenian. Definitely would recommend!More

We loved this place for the atmosphere and clever rustic setting but the food was delicious and plentiful [as always a groaning table of food]. Very busy and bustling.

Great place, poor kitchen. The version of lahmadjun (garan txuk) was tasteless and disappointing. Salad tarxun was too rough, not tasty, and yes - disapointing.

We found this place passing by and stopped hearing the delicious smell of tasty food. Highly recommend ! Homemade nicely cooked food, mainly traditional Armenian cuisine.

At our very first day in Yerevan, a Brazilian friend took us for lunch at "Abovyan 12"! And it was indeed a perfect choice! The place is beautiful and has a very special and warm atmosphere! It is an open-air restaurant, you seat under the...grape vines and local art is seen at every single corner! A nice typical Armenian meal, friendly service and normal prices, plus a fantastic location, near "Republic Square", the "Dancing Fountains" and "Norhtern Avenue". And I did come back for souvenirs as, right at its entrance, there is one of the best souvenir shops of all Yerevan! Bon Appétit!More

Our experience here was excellent. The food was very good as was the service. I thought the prices were reasonable and the rustic character of the restaurant was enjoyable. Cool place. Would eat here again.

What a unique place! You need to go through the Dalan Art Gallery to the courtyard in back, which is where the restaurant is. There's also artwork around the courtyard too. We had these pancakes/meat rolls that were really good, as was the fresh squeezed...orange juice. We sat under the arbor, which was covered in grapes. Perfect location for breakfast.More
