Relaxed, friendly place to eat

Good food and cheerful staff surrounded by excellent photos taken by Mr Cu, the owner - who will also willingly show you his amateur photo albums.

We visited Mandarin Cafe on the recommendation of our tour guide (good food and reasonable prices) and were not disappointed. Portions were large, food was tasty (I had pho and sauteed morning glory), and the service was friendly. Mr Cu greeted us as we arrived. His photographs of Vietnamese life, which grace the walls of the cafe, include studies of... More

All I wanted was a latte with good coffee and real milk. After weeks of bad coffee and condensed milk. And I found it here and so much more. Great selection of both Asian and Western choice. All delicious (tour group as a whole was very happy). Enjoyable gallery of beautiful photos and light sell of prints, but not overbearing.... More

We had lunch break here. Nice little spot with tasty food (you can get some European breakfast here too). Reasonably priced. The main attraction of this place are the photos displayed on the walls and in albums offered to you while you were waiting to be served! You could buy a copy of them if you wanted and they offered... More

Mr. Cu's restaurant, the Mandarin Café, is still a place you have to visit when at Hué. Although Mr. Cu doesn't run it any more (his granddaughter is now the person in charge), he is still around most of the time. Back in 2009, Mr. Cu gave us a couple of his photos as a gift, nowadays they give you... More

We've made Madarin a regular stop on the way from our guesthouse. The staff are lovely and the owner is always happy to chat. His advice has proved sound and his photos are lovely. The food we've had is good and everything is reasonably priced.

Try the local speciality, Bun Bo Hue. We had lunch there twice in a 3 day visit. The owner is a photographer who showed us his work. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was great. It's close to the river on the South Bank right beside the New Imperial Hotel, well worth a visit and... More

The food was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable. The menu had a lot to offer including western, Italian, and Vietnamese food. The owner also gave us a postcard as a gift and the picture was taken by him! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had a warm atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!

We went for supper with a few others in our group. My pumpkin soup was so glutinous it made me gag!! The mains a bit better. My partner on the other hand was quite happy with his veg noodle soup and beef with fried noodles hence my mediocre score! Won't be returning
