Great Indian Food in Central Location

We’ve been traveling in Cambodia and Vietnam for a month and we’re ready for a change in cuisine. Tandoor was just what we needed. Our server recommended the spicy chicken starter and we also had the samosa chaat starter. Both were excellent. We shared the chicken tikka masala and some naan. Food came out nice and hot and very flavourful. Would highly recommend this restaurant in downtown HCM. The decor is quite cool too

Lovely food ...service a bit hit and miss

We showed up without a reservation and got the last table available. The restaurant was seriously busy with a large group -these thing happen though. The manager who took our order was very nice and steered our order away from certain items. We waited a very long time for our food ...with the large group this was going to be inevitable. When the main dishes arrived they came without the rice or breads. So they sat going cold whilst we tried to flag down waiters to help locate the rice/breads. We did like our meal very much indeed when it all finally arrived. The butter chicken masala was the stand out meal for us. Three mains, rice and breads plus drinks came to 1.2m dang so it's not a cheap meal out. I would come again ...but maybe when the staff were less stressed and busy!

Two nights in Saigon and after

Two nights in Saigon and after two weeks of noodles we fancied our regular Indian meal. The restaurant decor is very good, the door where opened for us by two very polite members of staff. The Manager came over as it was really busy and we didn’t have a reservation. He made up a table in the window and made us welcome. The menu has a wide variety of Indian dishes, our food came promptly. I have seen negative reviews for this restaurant but take no notice we found the food to be delicious and reasonably priced For the city. Try it !!

One of the best Indian restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City

We were referred to Tandoor by one of my friends who had recently visited and really liked it. We went out of curiosity one day and knew exactly why it was recommended so highly. The menu is hand-crafted, the presentation is impressive but what stands out is the customer service. The staff is super attentive, prompt and very efficient. The place is always in demand and a must-visit if you are craving for some Indian food in Ho Chi Minh City.

We were passing and looking to eat. Glad we went in. Food very good. Had a chicken starter to share followed by the prawn curry which was mild to med strength and the chick tikka Marsala slightly hot. Both were accurate descriptions. Had a naan and one rice to share. Perfect amount of food. Asked for cold beers and they brought a bucket of ice with 5 in Can’t complain about that service. All in all a very good restaurant which we would go again and recommend.

My dinner was an horrible nightmare, with family for Veg food. The breads served were ice cold, Simple yellow Dal, was in a soupy state. Cooked Bhendi lady finger managed it's orignal farm fresh colour.Gravy for Aloo Gobhi & paneer pasanda was the same.it relegates simple Indian food standards. It's disgusting....

Terrible food and terrible management

Went for dinner and ordered three dishes, and two of them were sour and the mutton dish was raw. On requesting the manager, Mr Taj Mohammed, for meeting the the chef for discussions for the next time, was bluntly told that it is not possible. Was shocked as my wife is an ex-chef of Taj Hotels and this kind of an answer was unheard of. The manager was downright rude and this was one of the worst meals I have ever had. Imagine that the “Bhindi Masala” was totally unpalatable. At all places, after meeting the chef, we always had the dishes served according to taste, to a great extent. Sad but a deplorable place.

Lucky me, Dosa's

We were recommended this place by our guide as a good price venue. The food was good, service was good and the decor was good. I was so delighted to see they also had a southern indian menu of Dosa, I had my favourite, Masala Dosa. To top things off they had Kulfi ( indian ice cream) again another favourite of mine . Good price , very pleased. Only negative , decor in the toilets.

I was there many times with my boyfriend and i super highly recommend this place for anyone who haven’t tried Indian food before ( as i used to be) and you will change your mindset abt Indian cuisine after that. When i think abt a resto which food can heal my soul after a long stressful day Tandoor is the #1 choice to be honest. Staffs are very friendly and especially i love the warm and peaceful atmosphere there. Thank you.

Extremely poor service, average food especially for the price point.

Decor: Elegant and tasteful Service: Horrible, one of the worst in my life and I’m not young. We will not go to this restaurant again because of the poor service. We stopped by the restaurant in the afternoon to enquire about the timings. Staff members did not tell us that reservations were recommended. In the evening, when we went for dinner they told us that all the tables were reserved. We were surprised because half of the ground floor tables were empty. One of the staff members told us that they could make room for the two of us. We were given a table on the 2nd floor. Only one other table on the 2nd floor was occupied. 1st floor was completely empty. We ordered masala papad, another appetizer & main entrees. We got papad after 20-30 minutes. Folks on the other table got agitated because they didn’t get their food for 45 minutes. They finally left the restaurant after waiting for 50 minutes & getting no food. We asked to talk to the manager but we were told that she was busy running around and we could not talk to her. Hieu, the person waiting our table, kept on apologizing for the delay. He was very sweet and tried to get our food as soon as he could. We finally got our food after 50 minutes. Food: Masala papad was as expected, nothing special. Potato-cheese balls with black sesame were delicious. Naan was good but rest of the main dishes were okay. We get better Indian food in San Francisco. The owner and managing staff definitely need to take some lessons on how to run a restaurant. The manager/owner should not fill up the restaurant if the kitchen is unable to handle the load.

Delicious Indian Food

Restaurant is well located and is seemingly quite popular going by the crowded tables . Served in few minutes both bar be cue and main course were delicious in non vegetarian oder and tandoori roti quite crisp . All in all worth money paid and would certainly be going back next time around in the city .

table service needs improvement

Lunched here on Dec-29,2023. This restaurant serves Indian tour groups and accepts bulk reservations for the same. They offered elaichi ice cream and an Indian male waiter kept dropping the vessels twice while clearing from my table (Kesari group-bangalore) and one of the vessels fell on me. No apology received.

Very good food, poor service.

If you are a westerner expect to be served second. The service was slow and some of the items came piecemeal. We were seated at a table and they removed our water glasses and napkins. We had to flag down staff to get some napkins. Getting and paying the bill took quite some time too. The food is good but portions were a bit smaller than expected. This was a lunch stop.

Staff training needs improvement

Tandoor restaurant looks very nice from outside & has an interesting menu & good reviews so I decided to give it a try. Although the food was quite good the service leaves a lot to be desired. We were seated at the back of the resto near the kitchen in view of a succession of dirty dishes despite there being other empty tables. Our food took quite a while to arrive but was tasty & copious. Instead of the (relatively) sophisticated dining experience I had anticipated, however, staff were chatting loudly all around us. Perhaps it’s a cultural thing in VN but not what I expected from this low light linen napkin “high end” restaurant. When we stopped eating our plates & left-over food was whisked away without the server even asking if we were done or if we wanted to perhaps take the left overs home. As it was, we were finished but again, it’s another example of poor staff training. Despite the food being tasty I wouldn’t rush back to Tandoor.
