About
Bun Cha Ta is a Vietnamese dish of grilled pork and noodle, which is thought to have originated from Hanoi, Vietnam. Bun cha is served with grilled fatty pork (cha) over a plate of white rice noodle (bun) and herbs with a side dish of dipping sauce. The dish was described in 1959 by Vietnamese food writer Vu Bang (1913–1984) who described Hanoi as a town "transfixed by bun cha." Hanoi Bun Cha Ta ’s first bun cha restaurant was on Gia Ngu street, Hoan Kiem District, in Hanoi's Old Quarter and moved to 21 Nguyen Huu Huan street now Bun cha is popular in the Northern region of Vietnam. In the South, a similar dish of rice vermicelli and grilled meat is called bun thit nuong

The Bun Cha here was super flavorful and the greens were very fresh and nice. Thuy was awesome - she talked us through proper technique for taking down our bowls and spoke with us after our meal to give us her suggestions in the area. Thank you!

I came across this place by accident when walking through the old quarter and then when checking the reviews I realized I had walked into a highly rated restaurant, and I could see why. The Bun Cha ta was fresh and filling, the waitress gave me a run down on how to mix it all up to get the best out of the dish, the spring rolls and pork was just too good, highly recommend this place. The price is reasonable as well and it’s a nice and clean place.

If you want Bun Cha, this was the best we ate in town. Yes you can get a very good option at the roadside for VND45,000 (inc. spring rolls) rather than the VND100,000 you'll pay here but, for me, the herbs were fresh and more varied and you can get a beer to wash it down. It's on the food tour guides route when hosting Europeans but it's not a sterile westerners destination.

Great food for a reasonable price. Big portion. Customer service was quite poor. They seated us upstairs which was quite cold. We were the only customers sitting upstairs and the owner was hammering planks of food right next to us whilst we were trying to eat. We ate here because it was close to our hotel and we were quite hungry after a day of travel.

We had time for one final meal in Hanoi after travelling all over Vietnam and enjoying this country's incredible food and ate here after googling the best place in the city for bun cha, our fave dish.
I have no idea why this place has such good reviews - the menu is tiny, the restaurant is small and looks dirty and the food was absolutely disgusting. Our bun cha arrived with stale noodles, broth that smelled like pond water and meat that was squishy and looked like it had gone bad. After this meal we had to take a 16 hour flight back to London where we live and I was absolutely terrified that I was going to spend the entire flight throwing up. The worst meal we had in our entire time in Vietnam, don't eat here!!!

The food was delicious. The server named Xuan showed how to eat the Bun Cha at the vietnamese way and how to pronounce the most important vietnamese phrases. I recomend this place to anyone who want to have a special experiance insted of just have a normal dinne

I came here based on the good reviews. If you've never had bun cha before (we hadn't before coming here) this is a decent introduction, but it definitely caters to tourists and as such was extremely overpriced. The pork itself was not grilled well and was soggy from sitting in the sauce. You can find better (and cheaper) in the city.

There are multiple floors on this restaurant, i'd suggest eating upstairs for the atmosphere. You take your shoes off and enter the room. Food comes in fast. Waitress was really sweet, she even told us how to properly eat the food. After that she disappeared. The food was decent, definately not the best in Hanoi. You pay downstairs with the bill the waitress gives you with the food. Our bill was a total mess, wrong numbers, wrong items, and of course wrong price. Decent experience.

Excellent quality local Vietnamese bun cha. Basic restaurant with high quality food. Bun cha was flavors one and the combo spring rolls (we tried both pork and crab) were some of the best we experienced in Vietnam. Inexpensive for a traditional experience. Only one annoying point was one of the waitresses playing music on her iPhone right behind us.

Most delicious bun cha with unlimited supply of fresh herbs , everything is just right in terms of taste and ambiance. Lovely setting and comfy place and we got to taste the seasonal homemade apricot drink and the owner, Amy, surprise us with a happy drink, Vietnamese whisky that hits the right spot.
Must visit 🤗💜

The meal was tasty, herbs were very fresh and could be added themselves and the vegetarian spring rolls were delicious. The restaurant itself is clean.
Staff is very attentive. Thuy our host is a very nice and enthusiastic young woman.
Minuspoint: the sink and floor in the bathroom were rather dirty.
I will surely recommend this to my friends.

Loved this restaurant for quick and delicious Bun Cha. There’s a good variety of meat and vegetarian options - would recommend the chicken spring rolls!
The staff are really friendly and helpful with ordering.
Just know this is a casual restaurant with shared tables, no shoes and there are a few fruit flies but that’s just typical of a cheaper eat.
We paid 150K for a Bun Cha and the Tofu meal.

The Bun Cha here is really tasty. The dish we ordered had pork meatballs in rather than slices of grilled pork like we'd had in other Bun Cha dishes. My partner preferred this to some of the other Bun Cha we'd had as he's a bit particular about fatty bits of meat. The portion of rice noodles that we were given was a bit on the small side however other than that, it was a really flavourful and good quality dish.

If you are looking for good Bun Cha in Hanoi, look no further! Bun Cha Ta Hanoi serves delicious, well-made Bun Cha in an air-conditioned room with attractive decor and friendly staff. We enjoyed the food, the banter and the overall atmosphere of this place and will be coming back next time we visit. At the end of our meal, they even offered us a small shot of local alcohol as a traditional chaser to the dish. Five stars!

Delicious spring rolls, fresh herby vegetables, generous serving of fresh noodles, and tasty condiments. Additionally, wonderful service from Thuy, our waitress, who even explained how to eat the bun cha properly. Loved the quaint wooden seating arrangement on mats the second storey.
