MICHELIN Guide: Good cooking
This Vietnamese tửu quán (tavern) has always been popular with the locals and tourists alike. Most diners take their time, enjoying the food and drink in good company. The inn serves Northern Vietnamese fare and we recommend the subtly flavoured appetisers, such as salads or spring rolls. The catfish spring roll is the tasty signature dish. The heart-warming main courses come in earthen pots. The deliciously tender oxtail stew with herbs is to die for!

Lovely shabby chic restaurant full of charm. Some really imaginative dishes, such as the sweet potato croquettes (more like a beignet), and the pork and coconut. Great ribs. The sesame crisp bread, complimentary, was amazing.
With 4 beers and 4 dishes the bill for 2 of us was under £20. Further evidence that Vietnam is a foodie heaven.

We found this restaurant in the Michelin Guide, described as a "tavern". Nice old building, and nicely done inside. It does describe on the menu, that it is a place to come and "get drunk" and it seemed like the group next to us had taken that instruction. They were playing music on their phones and were extremely loud. Not the place to come if you want a quieter dinner.
We ordered a selection of food. It was OK, but not brilliant. None of it was particularly highly flavoured, for example, we struggled to detect any hint of Sichuan Pepper on the ribs.
Not our best meal in Hanoi and we won't be visiting again.
We chose:
- Cá Sụn Sịn Nướng Muối Ớt: "Sụn Sịn" Fish grilled w/Chili & Salt
- Dẻ Sườn Nướng Mắc Khén: Spare Ribs grilled w/Sichuan Pepper
- Free-range Duck in a Son Tinh Plum Liquor Sauce
- Sauteed Chayote Stalks & Leaves

Was recommended to go to this place by our hotel. Was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s in the Michelin guide.
The place had a nice vibe and a pretty good menu.
The pomelo salad was yummy with juicy chunks of the fruit tossed with a piquant sauce. We also ordered the banana flower salad, which was my first time eating this dish. Also very yummy. Would recommend ordering this too since it’s uniquely Vietnamese.
The highlight dish was the mini octopus dish. It was steamed with a bunch of vegetables and topped with lots of dill. The octopus was cooked perfectly so it was tender and juicy. Really fresh flavors.
We also ordered the viet rolls with wasabi sauce. That was ok; nothing to write home about. We also got the crabmeat glass noodles, which was ok. The dish we were disappointed with was the grilled pork jowl. Don’t know if it’s just the quality of the meats in Vietnam, but the pork was really tough and difficult to eat.

We went here for dinner knowing it received the Michelin designation. I was here several years ago and remember it being good. We couldn't have been more disappointed this time and also confused at how bad the food was. We ordered the squid and both had to spit it out into our napkins because it was so overcooked and chewy. The rest of the food lacked any flavour. I'm not sure if it was an off night but it was shockingly bad. You could get more flavourful food almost anywhere else in Hanoi at a much lower price. Really too bad!

Food was underwhelming and bland. I’m surprised it’s recommended on Michellin. The staff are nice but the food has no flavor. We got the dishes that were marked as recommended but it was really bland. I think we should have realized something was wrong when it was peak dinner time on a Sunday and it was not full. You can definitely find a better place to eat. Just follow the locals instead!

Disappointed as a few guidebooks told good stories on this place.
The upstairs seats were empty but they suggested seats by the door that smelled like toilets just outside.
The service was fast but too many solicitations for more beer (expensive!) and more food I was not comfortable.
The sauce for fried chicken wings in leaves was weird and bitter. Without the sauce the seasoning was nonexistent.
The fried rice and glass noodles with seafood was actually good, but why serve (already well-seasoned) fried rice with soy sauce? Quite a strange combination for me, coming from a soy sauce country.
Maybe it was me - first night in Hanoi and didn’t know the price level yet - but the price seemed very high for Vietnam.

First of all, food and ambiance in this restaurant are great. Nice variety of dishes. Not so sure about the frogs though. But then someone at the table next to us lit a cigar and started handing out cigarettes. In no time the whole room was filled with cigar smoke and seriously stinking. And this despite a clear no smoking sign and the restaurant owner sitting on one of the other tables. I had to abandon the meal and flee this place. So, by all means, if you don’t mind enjoying your Vietnamese food in a smoke filled room, do visit this place. Otherwise I would advice you to stay far away.

Cool place, delicious food and very friendly staff in the old part of Hanoi. The dishes are very special and the staff explains you what and how you’re eating it the best way.
They also have their own excellent home made liquor in different tastes.
We liked the place a lot and will definitely come again.

On the positive, restaurant has some fine beer and downstairs bar looked appealing. Upstairs is the type of authentic Vietnamese dining experience that largely only exists in the minds of tourists and western dramas. Between three of us we ordered six different dishes. One was tasty, another was ok and the other four were a combination of tasteless, greasy and overcooked. The four largely untouched dishes were removed without comment by the staff

During our shirt visit in Hanoi we strolled around in the old quarter and visited this restaurant which I got recommended by a friend.
And the experience was simply "wow" - starts with the personal greeting once you enter, continues with the very nice interior design and the delicious food and the amazing and super friendly and caring staff.
If you check the menu you'll find a lot of local dishes as well as some things which you might find a bit "special" - give them a try :)
Also their craft beer I can highly recommend. And definitely finish your meal with a "Son Tinh" - tried all of them.... Apricot, red rice and the clear one!
If I'm coming back to Hanoi, I'll definitely come back to this restaurant!

Great place to go for dinner with a group. The menu is amazing - really original food and so many dishes to try. Their own brand of rice wine is worth trying. Get the sampler with your meal.

Lovely restaurant, in a convenient location. Would recommend sitting upstairs, as you get views of the city. Staff were very helpful, and understanding of dietary requirements. Food is suitable for vegan/ vegetarians, and the restaurant was very clean.

We discovered it by chance last day in Hanoi and it left us a fantastic taste in the mouth. Very good Vietnamese cuisine, all very good and the place a charm, the 1st floor has a super nice decoration.
Location very close to the lake and close to shops and restaurants.
