Booked in for a cooking class with the restaurant's head chef / owner, not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. It was laid back, but informative, as I learned the subtleties of Vietnamese cooking from a master. It was an odd (though pleasant) experience doing the work of a kitchen hand (chopping and prep) while... More

Easily the best Ha Noi cuisine, setting, ambience and atmosphere anywhere, conveniently located, reasonably priced, with private dining rooms, exceptionally gracious and attentive service, and always rewarding and memorable. By far the best place for your last night in Ha Noi to make you really miss this amazing city, and to leave you with warm, sweet memories.

Sadly this was the most disappointing meal of our Vietnam trip, which had otherwise provided some fantastic dining. We chose this from a scan of Trip Advisor reviews, but should have dug deeper. Ordered Crab spring rolls for entree (which were actually quite good), and after being told all beef dishes other than the Old Hanoi were unavailable, ordered that,... More

Very overpriced, unappetizing dishes. Awkward service (although staff are attentive and friendly). Surprised by positive reviews, easily the worst meal we had in Vietnam (at any price). Gordon Ramsay would be very unhappy having his picture hung out the front I should imagine, especially since he really seems to have no association aside from a cooking show in Vietnam in... More

The restaurant was completely empty when we got there at 9pm on a Tuesday evening. Food was average and waitresses were helpful. The place itself is old fashioned and smell of damp. Not surprising in this climate but they should really do something about it.

Visited this restaurant due to the Lonely Planet recommendation. However, I was so disappointed the food was so average some of it was even stale. Also it was so overpriced should have stuck to street food!

Went to old Hanoi on the recommendation of Lonely Planet. Food was well cooked, presented nicely and tasted great. Decoration of the restaurant was consistent and well done. Staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful.

We were on a tour of Vietnam so had no say about this restaurant, this was our last night as a group before we all headed off in all directions. I wish I had stayed in the hotel. When we got there, saw Gordon Ramsay's picture outside it, oh this should be great, as he has so much to say... More

We ate here on a Sunday night and although the restaurant was quiet we were not disappointed... The staff were so friendly and attentive turning on the AC and pointing any fan our directionso as not to overheat. Thanh, explained to us every meal choice we made how to eat it to appreciate the flavours and we were not disappointed.... More

Having read the reviews and the mention of Gordon Ramsey, we believed we were in for a delicious treat, but were extremely disappointed. The meal and the service were extremely medioca.
