Went to this restaurant as part of a tour. Enjoyed the food and the service. Also dined at the Porte D'Annam (same owner). Enjoyed the food, the service and the vegetarian dishes.

We visited based on recommendation but were a little disappointed because we thought it did not live up to comments and reviews. Maybe we were expecting too much. The food was good but cold by the time it was served which, judging from watching a pleasant but chaotic staff, could be because it was waiting too long prior to being... More

I would have expected better from Madame Hien and its French owner, Didier Corlou. But maybe 5 restaurants in Hanoi is too many. The tasting menu was expensive by Hanoi standards and disappointing. The foie gras was undercooked, the duck dish overcooked. The prawns and appetizers however were delicious and the service excellent. Success= complacency.

We were recommended to try this restaurant but compared to others we went todo she's lacked tastiness. The chicken skewers were poor, the beef noodles was better but not by much. The staff were friendly but as it got busier seemed to struggle to be organised. The decor inside is rather drab as, I am afraid , were the dishes... More

The duck 3 ways was very tasty and and all the dishes are really nice prepared. Rather expensive for vietnames food. We sat on the upstairs terrace which was lovely. French colonial building with a very nice ambience. Friendly staff spoke good English.

Excrllent food and drinks menu. Location is lovely just off this quiet (by Hanoi Srandards) Street. Very central in old quarter. This is an expensive restaurant for Vietnam. More European city prices. Having said that the food was delicious and we'll presented with top class service. Nothing is a bother to the staff very attentive and discreet. Outside chairs need... Fantastic authentic vietnamese lunch in a beautiful colonial building. We sat outside on the terrace, although the garden seats were great too. Definitely visit this place for lunch or dinner if you're in Hanoi!

We loved Madame Hien so much that we went back again on our last night in Hanoi - we just couldn't resist ending our trip on a high note! The atmosphere and food were lovely (both times), and the staff gave excellent service and were very sweet with our kids. This is a gorgeous restaurant if you feel like spoiling... More

Such a nicely appointed facility in old quarter. We went to the second Madame Hien but I suppose the food and service is just as nice as the original. The food was very nicely prepared, and exquisitely authentic. Lots of French flair with down-home Vietnamese sensibilities. We chose the buffet menu, that was exquisite. The gentleman rolling the fresh Banh... More
