Stayed at the Movenpick Hotel in Hanoi. We had dinner at this wonderful French restaurant last night. Excellent meal. It is a little tricky to find but it is about 100m from the hotel in a little side street. Very pretty and modern space. We had a three course meal and the food was delicious. If your looking for a... More

We decided to go to La Badiane as a change from Vietnamese cuisine. French styled, La Badiane offered a more 'western' styled restaurant. The food was nice, based on French cuisine, but none of the classics were available as the focus is on fusion/modern French food. I had the duck breast, cooked rare, served with a sweet potato mousse, lychee... More

I was hopeful for a pleasant surprise at a good French restaurant after a disappointing experience at The Green Tangerine. I was not disappointed. In fact I found myself cleaning up the plate with my fingers. The food was not only beautiful, colourful but the taste for each dish was outstanding. It's the combination of the different ingredients that made... More

We had the six course price fix dinner. We enjoyed everything served with the exception of the cheese course. I only gave it four stars because it was more expensive than I thought it would be, or expected in the old quarter. I would recommend this restaurant to couples and friends.

It's my second visit to this restaurant as i make it a point to come here each time I visit Hanoi. The food, ambience and the service level of the staff are well above expectations. And price is still affordable and reasonable.

We went on the recommendation of hotel staff. One of those rare occasions where everyone at the table was happy with everything at dinner, from food to service to ambience. Most enjoyed dish were the foie gras and the tenderloin, was aged nicely with full flavor. Bit pricey but was worth it for the great family time spent together.

This is a classy restaurant. Great service, ambiance and amazing meals! We visited here twice while in Hanoi. We had the lunch menu promotion which was excellent value. I noticed some local ladies were accompanied by their children. They were made extremely welcome with crayons and soft toys.

Thank Karen H

Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy.

Surrounded by harmonious leaf plants, & walls predominantly white alternating with carefully chosen vivid colors, the place provides for a true feeling of calm and elegance, which gathers the best conditions to let your senses express themselves.

When coming in, an open-sky corridor planted with luxuriant vegetation leads you towards the heart of the restaurant. One’s attention will be instantly caught by the multitude of perfumes & aromas flowing out of the open front kitchen.

Then, depending on your mood & weather permitting, you can have your meal in the airy Patio, calm, convivial & surrounded by photographic art works. For a more intimate setting with warm colors you can choose one of the three air-conditioned rooms located between the ground and the first floor.

At la Badiane, all is about food but there’s also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal. La Badiane, top 500 Restaurants in Asia by Miele Guide and “Certificate of Excellence” by Trip Advisor in 3 consecutive years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will never fail to satisfy you. Moreover, at this very same “picky” travel community, there were more than 300 upvotes as “EXCELLENT” for La Badiane – a formidable rating which can only be seen for top-end restaurants.
