We had a lovely dinner at La Badiane. It is a beautiful restaurant tucked away from the noise and chaos in the French quarter. Both the food and the service at the restaurant were wonderful. It was the perfect French meal that we had been hoping for in Hanoi.

I had no reservation but was still accommodated and made to feel welcome. It is certainly a NY or Paris style restaurant without the hassle or pretentiousness. As a New Yorker, I certainly welcome an experience like this. Needless to say, the food was EXCELLENT.

What a wonderful peaceful oasis in the middle of all the chaos of Hanoi. A lovely ambience and delicious food. We enjoyed the Foie Gras terrine -so well presented with quenelles of apple compote almonds and sauces. The Crab Sphere was also impressive - Beetroot ginger accompaniments. Main course Beef Tenderloin and Duck. Both very satisfying. A beautiful cheese platter... More

If you are Hanoi and don't eat here you're mad. Travelling through Hanoi on business and had been here a few years ago with my wife. It was great then but I'd forgotten just how great. Lovely setting on the edge of the French quarter down a poky street. Once inside the setting is truly lovely (felt a fraud being... More

We went there since we have noticed it in Lonely Planet as a place to go. It was raining like hell that day and we came only at about 14h, but no problem to serve you. The card is well done, choice of menus and "a la carte" items. The food is wonderfull well served, and it tasts fantastic.... but... More

At the end of our four day excursion to Vietnam and having had good food along the way we were looking for a treat and we found it. La Badaine is a small but sensual restaurant tucked away in the backstreets of Hanoi. Tastefully renovated it has a cozy and warm feel. Our meal was excellent across the board (there... More

One of my favorite spots in Hanoi. I tend to bring my guests here if we feel likes having some nice non Vietnamese food. Would recommend the foie gras which is amazing! An absolute treat. The Australian steak is also super. Recommended. Book a table on Friday.

Firstly, this place is very expensive by Vietnamese standards. Very. But, that said, my friends and I had an excellent meal here. Starters were outstanding and beautifully presented. Mains were perfectly cooked and looked great. Desserts were excellent. Service throughout was attentive and excellent.

Description
Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy.

Surrounded by harmonious leaf plants, & walls predominantly white alternating with carefully chosen vivid colors, the place provides for a true feeling of calm and elegance, which gathers the best conditions to let your senses express themselves.

When coming in, an open-sky corridor planted with luxuriant vegetation leads you towards the heart of the restaurant. One’s attention will be instantly caught by the multitude of perfumes & aromas flowing out of the open front kitchen.

Then, depending on your mood & weather permitting, you can have your meal in the airy Patio, calm, convivial & surrounded by photographic art works. For a more intimate setting with warm colors you can choose one of the three air-conditioned rooms located between the ground and the first floor.

At la Badiane, all is about food but there’s also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal. La Badiane, top 500 Restaurants in Asia by Miele Guide and “Certificate of Excellence” by Trip Advisor in 3 consecutive years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will never fail to satisfy you. Moreover, at this very same “picky” travel community, there were more than 300 upvotes as “EXCELLENT” for La Badiane – a formidable rating which can only be seen for top-end restaurants.
