Restaurant was located in a back lane and had a great warm atmosphere. Had the dinner set. Amuse bouche was a delicious gratin nice sized. Had the poached egg for appetiser and it was rich and flavourful. Had the grilled gambas for mains. It was well sized portion but one of the prawns was powdery and not fresh and that... More

My wife and I had lunch at this French inspired resturant yesterday. Quaint surroundings in the midst of the hustle and noise that is Hanoi. We had an average bottle of French wine and a good three course set menu. Although our food was good, it did not live up to the hype of other reviews written by diners. The... More

We had a lovely dinner of fine French cuisine at La Badiane. Initially, we were given a table in an upstairs room hemmed in by two walls. We asked for a table downstairs in the charming atrium courtyard and were glad to eventually get it later. Service was a bit indifferent, but the restroom had run out of soap and... More

The restaurant is pleasant and the service is attentive and gracious. However the food was very uneven. We had the Pumpkin Soup which was fine, but not exciting; the chevre salad, which was very good, though the amount of greens was skimpy; the grilled prawns with pureed sweet potato was excellent, but with three medium sized shrimp on the plate... My wife and I came here on the last night of our Hanoi trip and we were pleasantly surprised. The reviews are consistently high but some dishes truly deserve special mention. The duck confit was superb (skin lovely and crisp, not too salty, deboned yet still with shape intact) and the creme brûlée faultless (a delicate layer of caramelised sugar... More

In january 2017 we had dinner at La Badiane. It was perfection. This place doesnt have a michelin star, but it should. The service was top notch, and the food was fresh and creative. I had the duck and it was flavorful, i licked my plate clean!

Loved our experience. Every dish was really very high quality! Great combinations of flavors, excellent staff and presentation! The atmosphere is very sophisticated. It is not cheap but we thought it was well worth the money!

Near Ga Hanoi train station and our Mercure Hotel, we stumbled upon La Badiene via Google, but what a stumble it was. After two weeks traveling in Vietnam and sampling the country's fantastic cuisine, we thought we'd try some of the "colonial" cuisine. Atmosphere, service, taste, and attitude wee all superb. We chose the course degustation menu, which included a... More

Description
Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy.

Surrounded by harmonious leaf plants, & walls predominantly white alternating with carefully chosen vivid colors, the place provides for a true feeling of calm and elegance, which gathers the best conditions to let your senses express themselves.

When coming in, an open-sky corridor planted with luxuriant vegetation leads you towards the heart of the restaurant. One’s attention will be instantly caught by the multitude of perfumes & aromas flowing out of the open front kitchen.

Then, depending on your mood & weather permitting, you can have your meal in the airy Patio, calm, convivial & surrounded by photographic art works. For a more intimate setting with warm colors you can choose one of the three air-conditioned rooms located between the ground and the first floor.

At la Badiane, all is about food but there’s also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal. La Badiane, top 500 Restaurants in Asia by Miele Guide and “Certificate of Excellence” by Trip Advisor in 3 consecutive years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will never fail to satisfy you. Moreover, at this very same “picky” travel community, there were more than 300 upvotes as “EXCELLENT” for La Badiane – a formidable rating which can only be seen for top-end restaurants.
