I tried to be fairly optimistic but towards the end of the Winter menu, I have to conclude that it was not a passable dinner experience. Before I comment on the Viet-French combinations, the execution was sub standard with many of the ingredients overlooked - duck was too tough although it was still pink, the vegetables of fresh spring roll... The most delicious, most affordable, most surprisingly good fine dining experience that I ever had. I ordered the "a la carte" menu that provided two starters as two mains, cheese and dessert and I dare say everything was excellent!

This is a restaurant that provides options of French / Vietnamese cuisine. The service is very good, and the food interesting. Prices are moderately high, and the restaurant itself is quite beautiful but without a view of the city/lake. I liked the experience, and recommend this place, but it s unlikely I ll go again.

This was one of the best dinners during our HM; eventhough we were not very hungy, we managed to finish it all. Specially the duck was one of my best dishes. Don't miss it!

Great food, really enjoyed starters and mains, wine price acceptable. Ambiance feels like you are still in the 60's. Service very poor - inexperienced staff, fork and knife in wrong places, taking away plates without everybody finishing, not serving wines at the right time. And to finish "sorry, we run out of coffee"! At the end, when we comment this... More

god knows we wanted this place to be good. Instead it was one of the worst meals in 35 years on the road. The flavour combinations were so misconceived - lobster w caramel and vanilla sauce? - and poorly executed - the squid could have shod a moped - that our lasting regret was not cutting our losses when the... Ordered the six course tasting menu so we could sample as much as possible from the restaurant, and we were continually disappointed. We skipped one of the courses simply because we wanted the meal to end sooner. While the dishes seem designed around complexity (many ingredients) and innovative techniques (eg. gels, infusions), but none of them delivered on taste. Moreover,... More

Let me put it this way- When one bravely enters an expensive restaurant to try out a new cuisine and expects food that is different and high on taste and finds none of it,What does one do?With the hard truth hovering at the back of your mind that there's going to be a huge hole in your pocket by the... We had a good time, but while that is always nice, a restaurant that advertises itself as fine dining and tries to be edgy just cannot afford to be so far off the mark. The amuse bouche kicked off with a black pepper sorbet that was lumpy, grey and anything but inventive. And so it continued, nothing being outright bad,... More

Located on a fairly quiet side street in central Hanoi, not far from the Metropole and Hoan Kiem Lake, Verticale is so far the best all around French-Vietnamese colonial dining experience I have had in a year and a half of living in Hanoi. The decor is thoughtfully presented and maintained, service is friendly and efficient, prices are very reasonable,... More
