Hanthung is a bit out of the way in a residential area of Chiang Mai. There is a parking lot outside and two sitting areas in a garden. I ordered a chicken Khao Soi which is a northern style noodle soup with some coconut milk...in it, and some other northern delicacies. For those who have not tried deep fried bamboo worms I can tell you that they taste more or less like potato chips. It was the best Khao Soi I have tasted so far and that soup alone was worth the visit! They were also selling excellent fresh and bottled orange juice.More

This place is a small local restaurant. It's quite unique. They sell many local dishes. I like their portions because it is not too big, It means you can order more to try and the price per dish quite friendly. And also the location is...great easy to get there. If you would like to try a local food I highly recommended this restaurant.More

If you want to experience the varieties of Chiangmai food, go there. It surrounds by greenery and natural vibes. This restaurant locates not so far from Nimman area but I'd recommend you not to walk there. Parking area is available for up to 10 cars....Toilet is OK but not super pleasing. Hanthung Chiang Mai isn't so big so I'd advise not to go as a very large group. I was there twice, the first time with 11 people and the second time was 8 people, too packed for one table (although I saw the sign you can hold a party there). Food comes in small potions which is great if you want to try many things. Since I was there twice, I would say I ate almost everything in the menu and nothing disappointed me. You can find rare menu here as well as typical Thai food. However, I'd suggest stick with Northern and rare menu, personally typical Thai food there isn't so special. Drink is self-serviced but there's a cafe near by which you can order something from there (I haven't tried through). There's no price in the wall menu but I'm not sure about paper menu. I'm not sure about English menu too and to order, you'll need to write down your orders yourself so I'm not sure about the system if you're a foreigner. Price is very friendly too. To sum up, if I happen to be in Chiangmai and I'll have to take my group to try local food, this will definitely be the place. PS. I was too hungry I didn't take a decent picture but I could share one I just randomly snap because I guess it can be useful.More

This local restaurant is open air and have a parking area. The food is delicious, I try a set of Kan-tok, it's quite expensive if compare to the size of each dish. Nam-prik-ong is not taste chili but I also like it. Lab Moo is...good which has Kak-moo as well. Free ice & drinking water. It would be great if the service staff will pay more attention when the guest coming in. They didn't welcome me and I have to ask them for the seat and they didn't give me a menu book so I have to look on the wall menu which don't have food photos. However, I may try another local restaurant when I go to Chiangmai again.More
