Located next to the trendy Khao Soi Mae Sai, this restaurant is a bit of its opposite. Here, the mainly Thai clientele is more traditional. The restaurant is made of several wooden buildings in a kind of garden. When the restaurant is full, you are...asked to enter your name in a register. A kind of shaded waiting area in front of the restaurant is at your disposal. When you hear a megaphone calling your name, introduce yourself so you can be seated. We had by chance the best table in the restaurant (No 14) because it was located on a kind of isolated rotunda, a little on the height. The cuisine is typical North Thai. It's not very refined but we were still very happy with our meal. The juices were excellent. The servers were attentive and friendly. We had a great time.More

Very disappointed in this Michelin guide restaurant, and wonder how they got this Michelin guide. Today, me and my brother is going to try this Michelin guide restaurant. After a long queue waiting for a seat. We are really excited to try on this famous...Michelin guide restaurant. We had ordered the fried rice, stir fried mixed vege, grill pork with northern herbs, curry with garlic, omelettes with pork and deep fried pork. In the half way of eating, we found a small piece of broken glass in the grill pork with northern herbs. And we raised up this issue with the staff, to let them know this issue. They took the plate with them and told us they will waived off the dishes for us. At this stage, I feel just abit disappointed to them, as a famous Michelin guide restaurant, this should not be happen. However, I had been working in a restaurant during my uni life, I do understand sometimes things happen. After a minute we start continuing our meal, we found another pieces of broken glass in their fried rice. At this moment, we are not just disappointed, and also mad. We called up the waiter again, and they try to take our dishes with them again, but we refuse, and checking with their manager. They offered us to changing all dishes for us. But how can they ensure us to have dishes without broken glass again. We end up refused to their offer, and take a photo of the dishes and leave. I’m very disappointing to this case. It is lucky for us to spot out this broken glass. What if we didn’t found it and have it in our stomach ? Or we get hurt while biting ? Is will be a disaster.More

First time with the tradition local food in Chiang Mai, even there are many queue but the staff can mange and call us too fast. My guide recommend the food, Khantoke and I order more for crispy fried pork with the sticky rice. They are...very tasty and more value for this meal. Really recommend for this restaurant. I will back again, if I visit Chiang Mai. I just know that this is the restaurant of the iron chef.More

Very very good for the price you paid. Very warm sticky rice with Northern Thai spicy dipping and sausage are always the best idea! A group of five with full meal (no bev though) ended up at 30 USD. I dont think you can easily...find the comparable offering. Most dishes are quite local though and likely too spicy for foreigners. Staffs are friendly and kitchen is very efficient. Went there twice in a four day trip. Will definitely go back.More

The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. Very neat design. Lots of wood, open air, gardens, and rooms within rooms, you'd never imagine this place could exist in this otherwise simple neighborhood. There is no mistaking the restaurant once you have made your...way to it on your Map app, but you might not notice the one tiny English sign on the side door (above the advertisement of its Michelin status.) This place always has a wait, which is generally a good sign, and mostly locals, also a good sign. There's no hostess, so you have to walk fairly deep inside the restaurant to locate and write your name on the waiting list. The first time I went, I had to ask a passing waiter what to do. There are a lot of tables, so it's generally not too long a wait, at least not on a weekday. The food is very local. If you enjoy northern Thai food, then you'll probably like the offerings here. They have famous standards like Khao Soi and more you might never have heard of. It is spicy, no question. Full disclosure, I find the food a little too authentic for my taste. Although the meat seems to be high quality (and reasonably priced), I struggled with the spiciness and bitter veggies and bones in the meat. It's not my place of choice, but I recognize that it's a pretty awesome joint.More

We were seated by the waiters after a 10 minute wait, given our drinks 30 mins post-ordering, and still haven’t received our food 1 hour post-ordering! 10 minutes ago, the waiter said the food will be here in 15 minutes. Just now, a waiter told...us the food will take another 30 minutes. Service is extremely unreliable. No element of customer care! The funniest part is, can’t even tell you how the food was. Left 1.5 hours after arriving with empty stomachs, and barely even an apology. Guess there’s a first time for everything..don’t let this be your first!More

So full because I wanted to try every dish on the menu. Northern food is special in a way that its prepared in such a delicate way, its not messy and fills the heart up. This place does exactly that.

Very busy restaurant, famous with both local and tourist. Although they have long queue with all table occupied on peak hours, the food service was quick and efficient which worth for waiting. The food was delicious. I personally recommend their Mix Northern appetizer platter which...have good combination of spicy & non-spicy things.More

10/10 for food here! We love all food as well as some weird local foods that we haven’t tried before. I recommend ‘Kao soi’ and the Northen set. These are so good. This restaurant quite busy but we got a good service from them so...worth it! We had a amazing dinner with family and friends and will go back for sure 😋More

This place has the worst service I have ever had in CM. No one speaks a word of English. I won't return. Food is also way overrated.

This restaurant has been the favourite place of my elder sister for years. So, when I went with her this January, this was a must go place for dinner. The first night we went at 06.00 p.m. and found around 20 customers waiting. So we...decided to go somewhere else. The next night I called to place a reservation and was told I had to arrive at the restaurant before 05.30 p.m. We went there and all the dishes were really good. We ordered Nam Prik Noum, Pak Kard Jor, etc and really enjoyed them. The down side was desserts. Actually we ordered them and had a great time. But when we decided to have some more, the waiter said they were sold out. And at only 06.30 p.m. The next night we went again and ordered the desserts first.More

Spotted this place on a you tube video and like the look of the restaurant. We enjoyed the Northern Thai food and did not have the usual problem that restaurants are reluctant to serve Pet Pet spiced dishes to Ferang customers. Vast majority of clients...were Thai with only one other foreign couple and an expat boss accompanied by the ladies from the office. Beware this place gets busy and we were there early. I noted lots of chairs outside for people to sit and wait.More

My extended Thai family who are food experts liked this so much they came here twice . The food quality is excellent and great value . You’ve got to queue to get in so you’ll need patience but the food is worth the wait .
