Accidentally stumbled upon this gem of a diner, and am I glad I did. Decked with retro 50's decor, the establishment serves comfort American food. Burgers, hotdogs, pancakes, waffles, shakes etc. The Reubens I had, with homemade corned beef & pastrami, was simply out of...this world. Will visit again every time I'm in townMore

Thanks for your kind words. We actually make our own pastrami and corned beef. And we do it the old fashioned traditional way. Our corned beef is soaked for 2 weeks before being steamed. Our pastrami is hand rubbed and dry cured for at least...More

I have been a patron of Butter is Better for over 6 years now and have always considered it the best diner in Thailand bar none. That having been said, recently I was diagnosed with liver cancer here in Chiang Mai and had lost quite...a bit of weight. Needing to gain back some weight during recovery last month, the owner, Dao, was so accommodating despite the Covid restrictions to see that I got my Biscuits and sausage gravy delivered all the way to San Sai where I reside. She kept at it until we convinced Grab and others to make the semi long trip from their downtown kitchen. This was just a final example of the dedication she and her staff have shown me these past years. Anyway, Thank you, Dao and all the staff at Butter!!!! Sincerely, Mike PattavinaMore

Excellent breakfast with amazing sausage gravy and biskets. The desserts were amazing and a large selection of gluten-free options. If you have an itch for American food in a classic American dinner, this is the place!

came with a friend who is sensitive to gluten, they had many types of dishes that are gluten free, the service was friendly, the restaurant venue reminds me the local diners in america.

Pretty decent American style diner. If you are craving American food, this place scratches the itch. I got the BBQ and my husband got the biscuits and gravy. It was acceptable, not our favorite, but it was fine for what we expected. The strawberry yogurt...shake and chocolate milkshakes were good, but they were out of malt (my husband's favorite) but they recommended to do a chocolate peanut butter shake and that was really good.More

Love eggs Benedict and hadn’t eaten them in a year. Went here yesterday and boy, good stuff. Excellent food, great coffee, super menu, good prices, nice staff, clean and comfortable. It was like being in an American diner. My Thai lady enjoyed her first eggs...Benedict very much. One thing that I think could/would improve the experience is a jukebox, or some music. Found myself wanting to hear some Buddy Holly or Everly Brothers. The walls have album covers on them, the music was lacking. Apart from that, great experience. I’ll be back!More

Hi, Glad you liked our place. Actually, we should have been playing Rockabilly and Western Swing. We do have it recorded and ready to go. My fault. I forgot to turn on the player. We do keep it low, though. So best to sit near...More

I used to live close to this place before moving back to Bangkok. Whenever I visit the area again I usually eat here at least once. The menu is massive and everything I've tried has been really good. They use all their own recipes and...everything is made from scratch. It's sort of a combo diner, pancake house, bakery and New York deli. Service from the pleasant staff is good and the value for money is exceptionally good! I usually order the breakfast set #2 (pictured), but the pancakes are 'to die for' as well. If regular pancakes are too dull for you they have many other options including buckwheat, whole wheat, blueberry, gluten-free and more. The only thing I don't like is they don't have a store in Bangkok...More

Thanks for the great review, Mom. Seriously, we do try really hard. We cure own our Canadian Bacon, and make Cumberland Sausage and Bangers (another English sausage). And we would keep chickens in the store to guarantee our eggs are fresh but apparently the authorities...More

I was confused when I walked in, because it's so different from the rest of my experience of Chiang Mai. A little slice of America with the cool red leather booths and old albums on the walls. This restaurant has a very extensive menu, with...ample options for vegetarians (and vegans). Pretty big portions so it's great value for money. The staff are very friendly too. If you're a parent they also have a play corner, with colourful mats and an overflowing toy box. My only concern with this is how often that section gets sanitized because kids aren't renowned for their hygiene. Looked clean enough though.More

We had heard top reviews of this place from our family who live in Chiang Mai and were excited when our walk in the city took us by it. We agree with other reviews - the Reuben sandwich is delicious! But actually, so is everything...we or our family has tried on the menu. Because we feel better on a GF diet, we were excited to see GF entrees, along with GF breads and scruptious desserts. Definitely a repeat trip restaurant!More
