Our beautiful location is on the North side of the moat that surrounds the quaint "old city" of Chiang Mai. It is a perfect place to sit, enjoy the breeze, sunlight and people watching on the main road. The interior is attractive, colorful and bright with our student's art work and long share tables to encourage customers to sit together and make new friends or private tables and a small sofa in the kids corner where there are plenty of books, toys and art supplies to keep the kids happy while parents enjoy their healthy vegetarian or vegan western or local style breakfast, lunch, smoothies or coffee and dessert. We serve many Burmese and ethnic foods that you can't get anywhere else so it is fun to try something new! We also have a fun and funky little Pre-Loved Charity Shop in the cafe where you can not only donate your old clothing, household items, books and more but purchase goods and support our charity at the same time. We have loads of English language novels, travel guides, hats, shoes, scarves, jewelry, men's and women's clothing and more. We also sell organic spirulina, triphala and natural skin care products from local vendors. Please come and check us out today! You can park cars, motorbikes and bicycles along the side of the building.

Wonderful cafe while enjoying Chiang Mai

Loved the Free bird café. We got the ice Thai tea with the french toast (peanut butter and dates) which was amazing. There are sugar flakes on the toast that make it unbelievable. The café has a really great set up where we were able to make friends and ask strangers for help.

I visited on account of the excellent trip adviser reviews. Undoubtably this place does great things for Burmese immigrants, which is fabulous. However, in terms of the food, service and atmosphere I was really dissapointed. I had the French toast which was soggy and too sugary to be healthy, some of the fruit with it was overly ripe and warm.... More

We only had time for breakfast here- not the cheapest but it was excellent value given the quality of food and helping a good cause. Wonderful for me as it serves vegan options. Highly recommended and easy to find!

The Free Bird Cafe just happened to be right next to the hostel I was staying in, and what a find! It's relaxing, the food is outstanding and they support a charity called the freedom house. I stopped by here for breakfast before venturing out every day, my usual was a French toast sandwich with banana and a lavender latté... More

Restaurant was clean, service was friendly and the food was some of the best I had in Chiangmai. And I love the fact this is a cafe with a purpose.....helping those who desperately need help. I would highly recommend!

I love freebird. They make amazing Burmese salads - tea leaf salad, ginger salad, cabbage etc and delicious smoothies. They are often very busy so be patient, the food is well worth the wait.

This cafe served the best vegan fare in the city, and being respective to regional dishes made it authentic. My only regret is not eating everything on the menu. Pick anything, it'll all be good, but in particular I loved the Tea salad and pumpkin curry. Only downside being that it wasn't cheap enough to eat there daily, but given... More

This place is amazing. Their mission is great, their food is incredible. I highly recommend their loaded kao soi. Also, I've tried 6 of the 8 or so specialty salads, usually in a three-salad-sampler plate to split with my husband. Every single one tastes incredible. Many Thai salads have a little too much juice or liquid in them, but these... More

This cafe offers good and healthy food options, and you also help their non-profit organization. Great to check, even if not to eat!

I went to this place and was very happy both times. The smoothies are fantastic and the food very fresh and healthy. The café also has a really good vibe about it - great place to relax while you eat. Portions are very generous so you won't go hungry.
