About
Arcobaleno, meaning rainbow in Italian, serves as the vibrant inspiration behind our restaurant's emblematic slogan, "The Color of Taste." Embodying the rich tapestry of authentic Italian recipes, "The Color of Taste" welcomes patrons into a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite our transition from our original location in Babelon, adjacent to Chiang Mai University, to our second venue housed within a vintage wooden structure in the Wat Ket area, we remain steadfast in preserving our cherished culinary traditions. The new Arcobaleno not only elevates traditional cuisine but also distinguishes itself through its unique and exclusive ambiance. With a contemporary design that seamlessly melds functionality with aesthetic charm, our establishment exudes a sense of cleanliness, comfort, and homely relaxation. Gracing the walls of the new Arcobaleno are portraits of Chef Renato Magni, the visionary behind our family-owned enterprise, whose culinary expertise spans over three decades.

We have been coming to Arcobaleno for 12 years now. The food has remained constantly great all this time. When we are home in the USA we tell friends our favorite Italian restaurant in the world is Arcobaleno in Chiang Mai. Tonight I had eggplant Parmesan and my wife had a ravioli dish. The sauce is so fresh that they must be making it to order. The staff is extremely attentive and very friendly. Make sure you stop in here.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Arcobaleno. The food was very good and portions were generous. I ordered the crab linguini. So often when ordering crab you get a few flakes in your dish. This plate was loaded with chunks of crab meat in a creamy sauce. Wines were well priced and authentic. Nice change of pace from local cuisine.

When we are home in the US, we always tell our friends that our favorite Italian restaurant in the world is in Chiang Mai. The food at Arcobeleno is consistently excellent and has been for many years. My favorites are the eggplant Parmesan and lasagna. My wife loved the clams and spaghetti. Portions are good size so if you’re hungry go for the spinach crepes. Service is excellent. Everything is freshly made and you can taste it. Well worth the visit

The restaurant was very busy, but the service was very excellent. The food was all tasty, and the overall price was quite reasonable. A very enjoyable experience.

When visiting from Australia we visited for dinner on a whim as online I had seen a blog note that they have gluten free pasta available and as I have specialised dietary requirements (which I had beeb struggling with when staying in Chiang Mai). What an amazing experience!!!!! Okay, firstly how professional the staff were! So classy and clean, the waitstaff were really happy to cater for specialised dietary needs. Amazing italian, the pasta was top quality! Service impeccable and prices very reasonable for the Australian equivalent, felt so fancy for such an affordable price! Very impressed with this place and the wide menu. For those like me who are visiting Chiang Mai whilst accommodating for gluten free needs THIS IS THE PLACE just ask for gluten free pasta to substitute into any of the dishes and sauce options. Delicious!! So happy to have stumbled upon this haven, will be back!

In all the years we have been coming to Chiang Mai, we always pick Arcobeleno as our first stop. The food is consistently excellent and fresh. I may be stuck but love the eggplant Parmesan. The spinach crepes can’t be beat. The other night my wife wasn’t feeling great so we ordered take away. It was just as good as eating in the restaurant. We still tell friends our favorite Italian restaurant in the world is in Chiang Mai.

Serve one of the best ravioli and pasta I have ever had. Generous portion of food and wine by the glass. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is run by a second generation of Italian-Thai family.

The best Italian cuisines is here, with a long history. Every dish was cooked delicately so you could feel nature of the ingredients. The services were very good, the gentleman who served us kindly explained about the menus and also he knew much about wines. It worths very cent you pay. Recommended!

My capresi was perfect - and made with best quality olive oil. And my wife's Caesar salad made with proper, deep green, tasty lettuce - not the anaemic tasteless crunchy pale stuff. We were a group of seven and we all sampled each other's dishes - no disappointments - the tomato soup, creamy and well seasoned, the clams 'au naturel' tasty, my wife's osso buco tender and well accompanied too. The wait staff were attentive and refreshingly informal without being intrusive. I didn't realise there was such a good Italian restaurant in Chiang Mai and will certainly be returning.
It is so popular that a reservation, especially at weekends. Price - not cheap but no rip off prices - good value for money and I'm looking forwards to trying more of their dishes.

Our concierge at 137 Pillars House booked us into this charming Italian when we needed a break from Thai food. We seemed to be the only non-Thai guests, a good sign, and the food was authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced. Prompt service and a warm, family atmosphere made this a wonderful dinner off the beaten tourist path in Chiang Mai.

This restaurant was close to our hotel and as the weather wasn’t great we stayed local. The food was ok , pizza a bit greasy but all passable. The interior of the restaurant was again just ok, jaded and could do with a makeover really. The kids rated the toilets a zero.

They open 11am to 2pm lunch times and 530pm till 10pm dinner.
The menu for lunch, so I was advised is different to that of the dinner menu and seeing as how I was there for diner, I'll talk of that. It was a Thursday evening about 715pm when my friend from Australia and I found it, first impression is they have a big carpark, spacious and easy to navigate; for me a plus straight away. When entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the owner who asked "how many persons would be seated"? ( interesting as this was Thursday and not very late but there was only 1 table vacant and that seated 2 persons) hat told me this place is very popular and mostly Thai people, we, plus 1 other person was Farang; (thai name for foreigner).
The menu is well organized, meats, {beef, lamb, pork,} poultry, [chicken, duck} pizzas (well it is an Italian restaurant after all), various types of filling (Oh! the mozzarella is true Italian, not normally found in the standard pizza you find in other places)
I had beef ossobuco with mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes. It was a most enjoyable meal, I will say surprisingly so; well-cooked and to my taste spot on. My friend ordered Pork T/bone, with a choice of mashed, baked or chipped potatoes
A good selection of Italian wine (but I consider it to be costly as is most wine sold in Thailand restaurants) we chose the house wine Half carafe (seeing as I take warfarin medication and Tim was to visit the doctors next day) so a small amount to accompany such good Italian food. Inside, the room is plain but nice, tables are spaced well and not sitting on top of each other. Table chatter could be heard but not overbearing nor intrusive of your own conversation. There is a desert section of the menu but in my opinion the selection is poor with tiramisu being the pick of the offerings, (there are cheaper Italian restaurants) that is for sure but, I would venture to say not offering the same standard of food quality, ambience settings, and service...….. As I said at the beginning of this revue I found this place by pure accident; lucky me!!

One of the oldest Italian restaurant in town. Started up by Italian father, now run by his daughter. One will not have bad surprise from this place. And their house wine are very drinkable. It is one of my regular. If you are lucky and get the oldest male waiter serving you, you are in good hands.
