This was my second visit and I do think this is an extraordinary restaurant, even considering their competition in Bangkok. The flow of service, quality of food - presentation, textures, flavour combinations are outstanding. The wine pairings are inspired. The service is really first class...and the setting is special. I don’t think you can get short notice bookings in restaurants of this calibre anywhere else in the world. I enjoyed every dish, every glass of wine and do not regret any Baht spent. Not sure why they lost the second star. I believe they deserve to get it back.More

Amazing service and food. International/French cuisine. Reserve well in advance, it is usually fully booked. It's a Michelin Star restaurant and be prepared to pay more than you would in most good Bangkok restaurants. In our opinion it is worth it.

My anniversary dinner at this restaurant turned out to be a disappointment. Initially expecting a fine dining experience, it felt more like a letdown. The service was notably subpar, with staff seemingly disinterested and robotic, merely going through the motions. Despite expressing my dislike for...truffles, the staff disregarded my preference and continued serving dishes infused with truffle, even during the dessert courses. It felt like they weren't attentive to customer feedback. However, the sommelier stood out, showcasing exceptional professionalism and knowledge. Overall, this establishment seems to have lost its charm and failed to deliver a truly accommodating and gracious dining experience. Needless to say, We won't be returning to Le Normandie. However, the Japanese Restaurant Kinu by Takagi might soon surpass them with their sublime food and service, possibly deserving of a Michelin star. Although we stayed at the Peninsula, not the Mandarin Oriental, they graciously arranged a ferry service for us without prompting. In stark contrast, Le Normandie left us waiting for our check at the front kiosk, neglecting attentive service. This stark difference in service quality warrants reconsideration for Le Normandie's place within this otherwise wonderful hotel.More

Hi there, I would like to thank Le Normandie for celebrating my wife’s birthday with great food and impeccable service. Special mention to Ack for taking care of us so well. He took much better pictures using my phone than myself. Food wise, as much...as I like tasting fine ingredients, the brown butter Dover was my highlight. The sauce was to die for. As far as I’m concern and comparing to places that we have been to, this is far better than a 1 Michelin. I hope your restaurant can regain your status or better. All the best and would love to return soon. VincentMore

Have the tasting menu. It’s amazing. Only annoying thing is the pianist playing “happy birthday “ 3 times in the evening - but that’s a small cross to bear for the outstanding food and service.

At Le Normandie by Alain Roux — Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok Absolutely superb dinner here at the Michelin-starred ⭐️ ⭐️ Normandie restaurant atop the Mandarin Oriental Hotel - the food, the ambience, the service all exceptional. Big thank you to the outstanding and wonderful service team...… Mr Federico the talented Restaurant Manager, Ms Soraya the knowledgeable Sommelier, Mr Aek our wonderful waiter … even the Pianist was awesome ! Probably the best dining experience in all of Asia … yes really … 😁 Fabulous dinner at this world class fine dining restaurant with excellent service, wonderful food and a superb view, also (given that it is Michelin-starred) surprisingly good value for money. I travel a lot, mostly in Asia and Europe and dine both for business and leisure in many fine dining restaurants… my recent dinner at Le Normandie confirmed my view that Le Normandie is quite simply the best western restaurant in Asia. There is a 7 course degustation menu but we decided to order a la carte which worked well. The lobster which is a signature dish for decades was superb, as were the langoustines. I ordered a main of Miyazaki steak which was quite simply the best steak I’ve tried all year. It is rare to find any restaurant that has world class food, excellent service, wonderful ambience, superb views over river and city, and good value for money but Le Normandie wins on all counts. One side note - Men have to wear a jacket which I knew but had forgotten but they kindly lent me one without fuss.More

Long waited after 3 years, we had yet another good experience at Le Normandie. As expected from a MO restaurant, the food was exceptional. The wagu beef was juicy and tender. The servers were friendly and welcoming. Kudos to the sommelier, he was very knowledgeable....The current crews are good but I really miss the crews in the past. Sometimes food isn’t the only thing in the dinning experience. But like many things happened in the past 3 years, we just need to move on. All in all, I would definitely come back next time.More

Had lunch during our previous stay at the hotel and had an outstanding, genuinely two Michelin star experience and reviewed accordingly. This time for dinner a bit underwhelmed. Still a lovely room, same great view but the meal was a letdown despite terrific quality ingredients...and generally well thought out presentation. Hors dóeuvres were really quite good as were the langoustine tails but the foie gras dish spoiled by fussy presentation and pointless pieces of cucumber. Pike quenelles in Nantua sauce was terrific but the truffle and mushroom ravioli a little chewy; while my wild turbot with scallop mousseline didn't quite gel- mainly because the fish casing was a little tough. The beef dish in contrast, was excellent. The main fail was the truffle souffle with truffle ice cream. Simply didn't work....throwing truffle at a dish doesn't make a dish. The souffle itself bland and flat, undecided whether to be sweet or savoury while the ice cream was icy with unpleasant mouthfeel. With the exception of the dessert, not huge criticisms but unacceptable at this level. Excellent French focused wine list but eye wateringly expensive. Even given the higher price of alcohol in Thailand struggling to find anything worth drinking much under 6000 Baht seems unreasonable. The list reflects an excessive Michelin mark-up tendency now largely no longer seen even in France. Gagnaire's list, for example, by featuring great new world wines is much more accessible. Adding insult to injury, after scouring the list prior to arrival, the wine though it appeared on the list as presented, was no longer available. Again, at this level not good enough. Hard to rate this visit. Average seems a little mean , very good a little generous......More

Firstly I want to give a shout out to our service manager khun Aek. Exceptional service and a semi pro (iPhone) photographer - he knows all the angles and where to focus etc. thanks to the restaurant for our wonderful nut and chocolate anniversary cake....Price is not cheap but expected in such a renowned location and place. Things however do add up very quickly with drinks and various mineral water. We went with le menu gastronomique - ie the 7500 THB option of 7 spectacular French dishes. Chronologically we had 1) chicken pate terrine tart, 2) grilled langoustine, 3) poached salmon fillet, 4) pan fried blue lobster, 5) pan fried beef filet, 6) basil sorbet, and 7) raspberry soufflé. While no one savoury plate stood out among others, all were executed with extreme precision and elegance, done to perfection. The best dish I found though was the raspberry soufflé with warm raspberry sauce. No better way to end the evening! If In town for one evening, do visit le Normandie. Deserves its 2 Michelin stars !More

My last visit at le normandie was 5-6 years ago, the room remain sublime and timeless. The service as always attentive and professional. The cuisine much more classic as the previous chef but everything was perfect, tasty foie gras, succulent blue lobster, well cooked wagyu...beef. The only comment I can write is the expensive price of the wines. However the view and the piano made this dinner magic.More

Such and amazing five star experience. Easy to see why this is a 2 x Michelin star winner. Excellent food, and an incredible view. We had the set lunch (3 courses) and enjoyed every moment. (There were quite a few included extra courses! And beautiful...bread!) We were travellers and were only smart casual but the staff never made us feel uncomfortable. Check dress code for dinner, it may be a bit stricter. So glad of our choice to go.More

Le Normandie is a fantastic, and amazingly beautiful restaurant. What makes this place one of the best in the world is the service, the ambiance, and the view. I compare it with La Tour d"argent in Paris! I thank the entire team for their amazing...service. the Manager and his team are the greatest. Special thanks to the Sommelier lady Soraya! I came many times, and I will be back, most probably... Yet, I must say your new chef does not deserve the two stars. Don't get me wrong, the food was very good but could have been done by any French bistro as well. The downside of this restaurant is the price! It sadly borders on a rip-off... (please take this as constructive feedback, many friends told me the same...!)More

This is an amended review as I graded it was average which was on reflection a bit harsh but then perhaps very good is perhaps slightly generous. Quite a number of reviews refer to the previous set up which I have no knowledge of this...so I cannot compare. We booked the restaurant at the hotel reception. The restaurant is on a floor of the Mandarin Oriental hotel and looks out to the river. Some tables are by the windows and have a good view, some tables are further in so if a view is important try to book one, I don't no if this is possible but I am sure you can request. We were met at the lift by a member of staff and taken up. We were welcomed and shown to our table. Champagne served and the menus brought. We opted for what I have experienced in the past is called a "grazing" menu but may well be known by other names. You get a number of smallish courses with a wine parring. The food was serviced up with style and a quite detailed explanation of the various items. With the wine the servings were pretty generous. I normally do not like chardonnay, a bit too "flowery", but the one served up was excellent, although that's personal taste. When we booked they were told that one of us was did not like fish and an alternative dishes were supplied, and they also checked they were suitable. Having travelled extensively in France I experienced many evening meals at French restaurants. They treat this as an occasion and not just a meal. This is what its like here. Its an evening and there are gaps between courses. However I would not have called the service in any way slow, its just what I expected. There was piano playing in the background which adds to the ambiance. There is a dress code but there might as well not be. It seems you turn up in what you like and they will give you a jacket. No everyone might not dress as I did, black jacket, white shirt with cufflinks and a black bow tie, although I would not have gone there in anything else. I am not going to describe the various attires some men turn up in, all the ladies were dressed elegantly and smartly, but it did take a bit of the edge of the ambiance. However I guess given the modern way of life money talks and thats all the matters.More

Food taste doesn't deserve star, it is more to a home cook french taste. Main dish fish was so bad. Mashed potato is what you can prepare in your own kitchen. Cheese selection was ok but the staff didn't bother to introduce much. Service was...so poor that all of the staff look down on you if you don't wear a proper suits or make up to the restaurant despite we didn't break the dress code rules during lunch. Service was so stiff. I do not receive such service from four seasons nor capella Bangkok! What a shame on mandarin oriental.More
