We came across this little cafe while somewhat lost walking near our hotel. Because we were parched from walking in circles in the heat, we decided to stop for a beverage and were immediately mesmerized by the bakery counter. What a selection. The counter help was probably becoming weary of our asking her to explain so many items in the... More

a genuine german restaurant, straight from the Black Forest. on Soi 20, a quiet side street off busy Sukhumvit, you will find this gem; a wattle and daub building, zircon of course, and a outdoor beer garden. the local service staff is dressed in traditional southern german garb, and the menu is exclusively german. food quality as good as it... this is a quaint and quiet place just a few blocks from soi cowboy. it was surprising that there were no hookers around considering the locality. German dishes and beer from the black forest German tribe tasted super delicious. it is a good place to meet friends and talk through the night.

Food was good service was horrible. I ordered the big group meal plate which was ok and beer was good. That's all that was ok. The service was nonexistent. 25 min to take order and only two other tables came in after us. Had to yell to get attention of staff to ask if they had closed, since no one... More

A very German restaurant located in a side street off Sukhumvit Rd. Has been there for nearly 30 years. Prices are above average for Bangkok but it does feel like a German place and the choice of meals and drinks is very good. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Busy when we went and probably worth making a reservation beforehand.

I've been to Bei Otto several times and never had a disappointing experience there. One of my favorites is the Black Forest Ham, a nice portion of cured ham, thinly sliced. The sausages are very good as well...and so is the variety of German beers. The atmosphere outdoors reminds me of an authentic German Garden Restaurant. If you're looking for... More

Went there last Wednesday with two friends ..very busy ...we each had a different main course but all were superb. A wide variety of dishes and an excellent wine list (along with the beers) ..a delicious Austrian red that I had not tried before ..forgotten the name !! I also was introduced to a savory cheese after the meal (again... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
